Mass shooting in Midland, Texas
Late Saturday afternoon, a white man in his 30’s hijacked a US Postal Service van in Midland/Odessa, Texas and randomly shot and killed at least five people, injuring another 21 as well as three police officers, reports The Sun.
The rampage began at 4pm local time with a traffic stop where gunfire was exchanged with cops. The gunman – who has not been named – was shot dead by police.
Two thousand donors have raised $100,000 in the first hours after a GoFundMe.com account was established for a 17-month-old girl, Anderson Davis, who was hit by a bullet fragment.
Category 5 Hurricane Dorian aims for Florida today
Hurricane Dorian continued to flex its atmospheric muscles on Saturday night, remaining at the cusp of Category 5 status, generating winds at 178 mph, reports Wunderground.com.
Dorian continues to pose an extremely serious threat to the Northwest Bahamas, and it will be approaching the Florida coast by today.
CDC: Vaping leads to 215 possible cases of severe lung disease
U.S. health officials are investigating 215 possible cases of severe lung disease associated with vaping across 25 states, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration.
Patients in many cases experienced symptoms gradually, including breathing difficulty, shortness of breath and chest pain before being hospitalized. Some people reported vomiting and diarrhea or other symptoms like fevers or fatigue.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 asks, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, Who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.”
Abortionist offers mothers chance “to cuddle” with dead baby
Notorious late-term abortionist LeRoy Carhart, based in Bethesda, Maryland, offers mothers the opportunity to have a time of “cuddling” with their dead babies after he has just killed them and take a picture home as a “remembrance”, reports LifeNews.com.
It appears as though Carhart recognizes the humanity of the baby, yet he makes a boatload of money to kill these late-term babies.
Carhart was surprisingly candid in an interview with the BBC. Listen.
CARHART: “To the fetus, it makes no difference whether it’s born or not born. The baby has no input and this as far as I’m concerned.”
BBC REPORTER: “But it’s interesting that you use the word baby because a lot of abortionists won’t use that. They’ll use the word fetus because they don’t want to acknowledge that there’s a life.”
CARHART: “So, I think that it is a baby and I tell her. I use it with the patients.”
BBC REPORTER: “And you don’t have a problem with killing a baby?”
CARHART: “Absolutely not. I have no problem if it’s in the mother’s uterus.”

National Day of Mourning for 20 million black babies
On Saturday, The Restoration Project, Civil Rights for the Unborn, and the Douglass Leadership Institute hosted a National Day of Mourning for the 20 million black babies who have been killed by abortion, reports Lifenews.com.
Census data reveals that while blacks only comprise 13 percent of the U.S. population, they have nearly 40 percent of all abortions.
It dates back to “the Negro Project” organized by Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood. The Killer Angel recruited black pastors to convince the black women in their churches to abort their babies in order to become more upwardly mobile economically.
Today, Planned Parenthood has built or is building three mega abortion centers in Black neighborhoods that are 10,000 square feet or larger in Richmond, Virginia, Charlotte, North Carolina, and Birmingham, Alabama.
Alveda King, the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., said, “In New York City, more black babies are aborted than born. It’s not racist to point out this truth. It is racist to perpetuate this genocide.”
Charismatic evangelist Todd Bentley guilty of sexual sins, says colleague
Stephen Powell of Lion of Light Ministries publicly dismissed his mentor, evangelist Todd Bentley at Fresh Fire USA as “not fit for public ministry,” alleging that he has a “perverse sexual addiction” and “an appetite for a variety of sexual sins” that has driven him to prey on interns, reports the Christian Post.
POWELL: “Some of my concerns about Todd Bentley, some of the evidence of sin, I brought to leadership, you know, going back to June. These allegations are serious. It’s not just hearsay, serious evidence, screenshots, written testimony, spoken testimony, recorded testimony.
“I believe right now that God is calling for a cleansing of His body. When these type of sins and abominations, unrepented sin is being discovered in the house of God, it must be cleaned up. It must be dealt with. And to my great sadness, confusion and dismay, it seems that these things have been covered up for a number of years.”
Powell also charged that Bentley’s behavior is enabled and covered up by Rick Joyner, author of The Final Quest and founder of Morning Star Ministries and Heritage International Ministries.
In a response on Facebook Friday, Bentley admitted to “having a past” and noted that the allegations against him weren’t new.
Murderer confesses sin after Big Daddy Weave’s “redeemed”
And finally, Mike Weaver, the lead singer of the contemporary Christian band Big Daddy Weave, is giving all honor to God after a Tennessee man confessed to murder because of the lyrics of his song “Redeemed”, reports the Christian Post.
According to the Daily News Journal, Danny Dashay Holmes said he made up his mind. He was going to confess to a murder. Three years earlier, Holmes had fatally shot Cesar Lopez-Flores, a father of three.
Weaver said, “We are continually amazed at how God has used this song. The moment we started singing ‘Redeemed’ stories began to pour in of God’s grace.”

Trump fired personal assistant
Madeleine Westerhout, who left her White House job suddenly on Thursday as President Trump’s personal assistant, was fired after bragging to reporters that she had a better relationship with Trump than his own daughters, Ivanka and Tiffany Trump, and that the president did not like being in pictures with Tiffany because he perceived her as overweight, reports Politico.com.
Trump said he would speak by phone with Tiffany when he reached Camp David, disputing that he had ever personally disparaged his daughter, saying, “I love Tiffany.”
Will Donald Trump raise taxes like George H. W, Bush?
Donald Trump is dangerously close to becoming the first Republican president since George H.W. Bush to raise taxes, reports Yahoo Finance.
According to the Tax Foundation, if the tariffs already announced by Trump go into effect, they will amount to a $200 billion annual tax increase. That’s larger than the $165 billion average annual reduction in 2017’s Tax Cut and Jobs Act.
Bush’s brazen break with Republican orthodoxy, along with a sluggish economy and broken promises, made him a one-term president. If Trump’s not careful, he may join him.
In his 1988 campaign, Bush famously asked the public to read his lips.
BUSH: “Read my lips. No new taxes.”
In 1990, Bush faced a rising deficit and a Congress reluctant to cut domestic spending. He caved. In June he announced that he was willing to accept a budget that not only cut defense spending but also included tax increases.
In tone and substance, Donald Trump and George H.W. Bush are nearly polar opposites. In terms of their economic and political circumstances, however, they are eerily similar — in a way that should raise some doubts about Trump’s chances of re-election.
Man died at Burning Man Festival
A man identified as Shane Billingham was found dead in the Black Rock Desert in northwestern Nevada during the annual Burning Man festival on Thursday, reports the San Francisco Chronicle.
The cause of death “remains under investigation as suspicious,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
12 college students show up to hear Joe Biden
In the wake of his campaign launching a student outreach program, only 12 young people showed up during Joe Biden’s Thursday visit to a historically black college in South Carolina, reports the Washington Examiner.
Just days before his trip Tuesday, Biden’s campaign launched “Students for Biden” as numerous polls show his support slipping among younger voters.
Twitter Founder’s account hacked, spews racist tweets
The official Twitter account of Jack Dorsey, the co-founder of the social media platform, was hacked on Friday, reports NBC News.
One of the first tweets sent from his “compromised” account was the N-word. Another, sent minutes later, praised Hitler.
More than a dozen racist or otherwise offensive original tweets were sent within 20 minutes from the account.
Dorsey has more than 4.2 million followers.
Texas court: 4-year-old Drake can’t be returned to homeschool family
A homeschool family is appealing to the Texas Supreme Court after an appeals court denied the family’s emergency request to have Drake, their 4-year-old son, returned after he was removed by the state based on concerns of medical child abuse, reports the Christian Post.
The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services did not like that the family sought switched doctors inside Children’s Hospital to another doctor inside the exact same office after the first doctor refused to visit Drake for several days while he was admitted to the hospital. The family filed a formal complaint against the first doctor which prompted the doctor to take retaliatory action to have the child removed.
A video appeal from Drake’s father has gone viral since Dr. James Dobson featured the story on his radio show FamilyTalk.
Vandals attack Austin pregnancy care center
Vandals attacked Austin LifeCare, a pro-life pregnancy center in Austin last weekend, reports LifeNews.com.
Unknown opponents of disfigured the new paint on its new building, painting the words “Liars” and “Fake Clinic” across the side and the front.
Andy Schoonover, CEO of Austin LifeCare, “We are not surprised. After all, we had a rock thrown through the window just a couple of months back. We are in [left-leaning] Austin. We are fighting for women and their babies. This just comes with the territory.”
Christian singer Lauren Daigle changed by women’s prison
Two time Grammy award-winning singer Lauren Daigle performed a concert at the Ohio Reformatory for Women on Saturday where she spoke of God’s love for them, reports the Christian Post.
The Louisiana native encouraged the prisoners to seek God for their value in life because no one is too guilty to be loved or forgiven. She said on Facebook that ” I watched Heaven befriend those who are often forgotten. I saw hope in the face of the hopeless, joy in the wake of sorrow, wealth in the gap of depravity, and life in the midst of death.”
Amazon censors Christian former homosexuals, allows pedophilia
Christian authors who once identified as gay or lesbian are highlighting the double standard Amazon is applying by removing their books from the platform while continuing to sell titles that promote pedophilia, reports the Christian Post.
Restored Hope Network Executive Director Anne Paulk and pastoral counselor Joe Dallas, who detail how Jesus transformed their lives and sexual identities, both saw their books removed from the retail giant because they allegedly were in “violation of our content guidelines.”
Yet, Amazon sells books affirming pedophilia.
A volunteer with Voice of the Voiceless, an organization whose stated mission is to defend the rights of former LBGT-identified persons and those with unwanted same-sex attraction, launched a petition this summer demanding the retail giant reverse course, saying the ban “is tantamount to religious discrimination and discrimination based on sexual orientation.”
Christian singer: “Our heart was not built for notoriety”
In reaction to Joshua Harris and Marty Sampson renouncing Christ, Christian music singer/songwriter Ellie Holcomb said, “The heart was not built for notoriety. I’m a huge fan of counseling because it gets confusing when a lot of people are saying, ‘Oh, you’re so great.’ I think a good thing for all of us to do would be to stop and hear the Lord say, ‘Don’t look to the right or left,’” reports the Christian Post.
The “Red Sea Road” singer also cautioned Christians against idolizing Christian leaders, adding: “Our hearts were made to worship the One who made us, but we misplace that a lot of times. I would encourage people to not place those in the spotlight on a pedestal; to make sure that they’re worshiping the One who gave the gift. The church is meant to be a hospital, not a museum.”
Justin Bieber: “Having trust in Jesus at your worst ties is hardest”
Justin Bieber has candidly admitted that he is going through a ‘hard time’ during a heartfelt Instagram post where he thanked wife Hailey for her support, reports ChristianToday.com.
He wrote, “Sang at church last night. God is pulling me through a hard season. Having trust in Jesus at your worst times is the absolute hardest, but He is faithful to complete what He started. I also want to thank my wife for being such a huge support in my life through this season. It says in the Bible count it ALL JOY when you face trials of various kinds.
“Sounds insane considering when you face trials you feel terrible. But if we are grateful and worship God for what we do have in that season there is so much power in that… whatever pain you are going through just keep telling yourself THIS WONT LAST!”
18-year-old vaper needs medically-induced coma
A teenager suffered catastrophic lung damage after vaping every day for three years. Maddie Nelson, 18, started to feel ill earlier this year but last month experienced severe back and kidney pain.
An X-ray showed “severe damage to her lungs” prompting th doctors to put her into a medically-induced coma while she battled for life.
Maddie Nelson was brought out of her coma after three days and now wants to raise awareness of the potential dangers of vaping.
CDC director Robert Redfield said: ‘Vaping exposes users to many different substances for which we have little information about related harms – including flavourings, nicotine, cannabinoids and solvents.’

Global warming scare scientist loses lawsuit against climate skeptic
Michael Mann is the climatologist at Penn State University who created the “hockey stick graph” that appears to show global temperatures taking a noticeable swing upward since burning fossil fuels which was prominently featured in the 2001 U.N. Climate Report and formed part of Al Gore’s 2006 movie An Inconvenient Truth, reports Austin County News.
Mann, whose methodology and accuracy have been hotly contested, sued two of his most prominent critics for defamation or libel. One case against commentator Mark Steyn is likely to end up in the Supreme Court. But, in the other case against world-renowned skeptical climatologist Dr. Tim Ball, the Supreme Court of British Columbia, dismissed Mann’s nine-year, multi-million dollar lawsuit and ordered Mann to pay Dr. Ball’s legal costs.
