Iraqi Christian Woman Holds on to Hope Despite ISIS
When ISIS took over Mosul, Iraq in 2014, displacing almost all the Christians living there, a woman named Schlama never doubted that the church of Jesus Christ would survive.
According to Open Doors, she said, “For the church, [ISIS] was a wake-up call for their faith. … Being a Christian doesn’t mean an easy life. Jesus doesn’t promise us an easy life, He promised to be with us …You know, times of persecution always mean times of an increase of the grace and mercy of God.”
Shlama also said, “I heard people from different churches saying that they want to stay in the country and reach Muslims.”
This Iraqi Christian woman’s faith is described perfectly in Hebrews 11:1. “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
Category 5 Hurricane Maria Approaches Puerto Rico
Hurricane Maria poses a significant threat to Irma devastated areas in the northern Caribbean into midweek, reports AccuWeather.

Young Illegal Immigrants Drown Out Nancy Pelosi
A vocal group of 50 illegal youths drowned out House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi yesterday at a news conference in San Francisco where she was calling for the immediate passage of the DREAM Act, reports CBS.
Pelosi began her speech by honoring the dreamers.
“They are our V.I.P’s. They are our purpose.”
But then a group stormed in chanting, carrying a large banner and individual signs.
“We are immigrant youth, undocumented and unafraid.”
Many of the demonstrators carried signs reading “Democrats are Deporters.”
Pelosi unsuccessfully attempted to calm down the chanting students.
Dreamers: “Let us speak. Let us speak.”
Pelosi: “No, you’ve asked questions. You have spoken.”
“It’s beautiful to our ears, to hear your protection and self-dignity.”
But when they interrupted again, she began shouting into the microphone.
“Just stop it now! Alright, that’s it.”
Unidentified male “dreamer”: “We are sending a message to our parents that this fight will be won with 11 million people in the streets.”
Moments later, she was forced to leave the news conference.
When asked for her reaction upon her exit, Pelosi said this.
“Well, the fact is they’re arguing against the Dream Act. But directing their anger at Democrats is so ridiculous.”
Project Veritas May Come Out with New York Times Exposé
James O’Keefe of Project Veritas is known nationally for his exposés of ACORN and Battleground Texas among others.
Most recently, O’Keefe exposed numerous CNN staffers who admitted in undercover video that they don’t believe the “Russian interference” narrative the network has pushed since Donald Trump became president.
Now he appears to have the New York Times in his cross hairs.
JAMES O’KEEFE: “In the coming weeks, you’re gonna see one of the biggest investigations this organization has ever done… It’s aimed at the media. We’re going after their holy grail. We have tripled our journalists in the field. … It’s gonna be big … People in the media probably going to lose their jobs and be exposed for what they are… So stay tuned ladies and gentlemen. Fireworks are coming!”
Food Stamp Usage Has Been Declining Since President Trump’s Inauguration
Breitbart reports that food stamp usage has declined every month since President Trump took office in January, dropping by more than 1.3 million, according to the latest U.S. Department of Agriculture statistics.
The two months where food stamp participation dropped the most can be attributed to states that started re-implementing work requirements to receive food stamps around that time.
The president also called for states to expand work requirements for able-bodied adults receiving food stamps if they have not already done so.
2 Thessalonians 3:10 says, “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.”
Broncos Player Jordan Norwood Speaks on His Struggles with Pride
And finally, when Jordan Norwood announced his retirement from the NFL last week, he wrote a lengthy essay about his relationship with God and the lessons he learned about humility after struggling with pride throughout his career, reports The Christian Post.
Norwood, 30, spent eight seasons in the NFL and won his first Super Bowl ring with the Denver Broncos last year. While the wide receiver and punter has been vocal about his relationship with God, he is now reflecting on his struggles with pride.
Norwood confessed that “My NFL career … has been an endless cycle of pride to humility and humility to pride. I can only hope that the periods of pride continue to be shorter, fewer, and further apart as I get closer and closer to Jesus.”
Proverbs 16:18 says, “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.”

Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar Besieged by Hostile Buddhists
Thousands of Rohingya Muslims in violence-racked northwest Myanmar are pleading with authorities for safe passage from two remote villages, including Ah Nauk Pyin, that are cut off by hostile Buddhists and running short of food, reports Reuters.
One Muslim said by phone, “We’re terrified! We’ll starve soon and they’re threatening to burn down our houses.”
At least 430,000 Rohingya Muslims have fled into neighboring Bangladesh to evade what the United Nations has called a “textbook example of ethnic cleansing”.
Formerly Transgender Teenager Works Toward Transitioning Back to His Birth Gender
An Australian teenager named Patrick Mitchell went public earlier this month about his decision to transition back to his birth gender after taking female hormones, reports Fox News.
At age 12, doctors diagnosed Mitchell with gender dysphoria. Disturbingly, at the direction of medical professionals who should know better, he began taking puberty-blocking and cross-sex hormones. By 14, he had breasts, long hair, and feminine features.
Earlier this year, to his credit, Mitchell decided he wanted to stop taking the hormones and is now preparing for surgery to remove excess breast tissue.
The number of children diagnosed with gender dysphoria has recently skyrocketed. Doctors and psychologists at specialized clinics are now encouraging so-called gender-affirming care, including hormone therapy, at earlier and earlier ages.
But one Australian doctor is pushing back.
Western Sydney University professor John Whitehall told The Daily Telegraph of London, “It’s the most incomprehensible thing I’ve come across in all my time of medicine. Prepubertal children have no idea about sexuality and choices of procreation afterwards.”
Most children grow out of gender dysphoria as they grow up if given the chance.
Suspects Arrested in Connection with London Subway Bombing
A second suspect was arrested on Saturday in connection with the subway attack at London’s Parsons Green station that left 30 people injured, as the city’s terror threat level was downgraded to “severe”, reports Sky News.
A 21-year-old man was arrested late Saturday night in west London under the Terrorism Act. Another 18-year-old man, whom authorities tracked using facial recognition technology, was arrested earlier in the day at the port of Dover, where ferries leave for France. According to the Times of London, the 18-year-old was believed to be a foster child taken in by Ronald Jones, 88, and his wife, Penelope, 71, who were honored by Queen Elizabeth for taking care of 268 foster children.

Republican Senators Push to Replace Obamacare By End of September
Senate Republicans pushing to replace Obamacare with state block grants are making real noise that they can get it done by September 30th, insisting they are just one or two votes shy, reports the Washington Times.
Sen. Bill Cassidy, the Louisiana Republican who co-wrote the bill with Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, said last Friday that President Trump can nudge their last-gasp bill to victory.
Planned Parenthood Receives Lasker-Bloomberg Public Service Award
Planned Parenthood has received the Lasker-Bloomberg Public Service Award, which is an award often referred to as the “American Nobel” prize.
According to the National Review, the abortion provider will receive the award for its alleged commitment to provide “essential health services and reproductive care to millions of women for more than a century.”
Past recipients of the award speak for themselves. Bill and Melinda Gates, Michael Bloomberg, and President Lyndon B. Johnson.
National Review notes “that a group being honored for contributions to medicine wouldn’t simultaneously be subject to congressional investigations into allegations of illegal fetal-tissue trafficking.”
Only Twelve People Rally to Support Robert E. Lee Statue in Richmond
A Confederate heritage group rallying in support of a statue of Robert E. Lee in Richmond, Virginia — the former capital of the Confederacy — found itself greatly outnumbered by counter-protesters this past Saturday, reports The Christian Post.
The miniscule group numbering only 12 were overwhelmed by a large number of counter-demonstrators including students from Virginia Commonwealth University, a theatre company, and a Black Lives Matter chapter from New York.
Katy Johnson of the Richmond chapter of the White Rose Society passed out white flowers, inspired by the anti-Nazi demonstrators who placed white roses in the guns of the Nazi soldiers, as a peaceful protest.
Saturday’s rally came a month after the one in Charlottesville, Virginia where a counter-protester was struck and killed by a car driven by a white supremacist who objected to the removal of a Robert E. Lee statue.
More on Jordan Norwood’s Christian Testimony
When Jordan Norwood, the NFL wide receiver decided to step down from professional football, he wrote a lengthy essay in which he said, “If you want to block yourself from God’s blessings be proud.” And he made this thoughtful observation. “God’s blessings often times look nothing like worldly success—just take a stroll through the beatitudes in Matthew 5.”
It’s clear that Norwood places his faith in Christ as priority number one.
“When people ask me how my faith fits into my life I have to tell them that it doesn’t. Faith has never fit into my life, it is my life. It’s not just a piece of the puzzle; it’s the whole puzzle. Everything else is just pieces that fit in around that.”
