Another Terrorist Attack on London Bridge
On Saturday night, three Muslim terrorists, wearing fake suicide vests, killed seven people and critically injured 48 others by driving a van at 50 miles per hour, mowing down 20 pedestrians on London Bridge, and then going on a stabbing spree through Borough Market, cutting people’s throats as they shouted “this is for Allah”, reports The Sun.
Staff at a packed British pub locked the doors and barricaded revelers inside as the armed gang tried to smash their way in shortly after 10.08 pm.
All three of the depraved attackers were shot and killed within eight minutes of the first call to emergency services after brave cops rushed to protect the public.
ISIS has claimed responsibility.
Prime Minister Teresa May said, “It is time to say enough is enough. … When it comes to taking on extremism and terrorism, things need to change.”
Defense Secretary Says North Korea Presents Real Danger
Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said in no uncertain terms Saturday that North Korea presented a “clear and present danger” and was “an urgent military threat” while also criticizing China for ratcheting up the tension over contested islands in the South China Sea, reports Fox News.
Speaking at an international security conference in Singapore, Mattis said the Trump administration was encouraged by China’s renewed commitment to working with the U.S. and others to rid North Korea of its nuclear weapons. He also said he thought Beijing ultimately would see Kim Jong Un’s regime as a liability rather than an asset.
The U.S. has about 28,500 troops permanently based in South Korea, a defense treaty ally.
Missionaries Helping the Poor in the Philippines
The World View spoke to Tim Swanson, a missionary in the Philippines and Kevin Swanson’s brother, about why the poor need the Gospel more than money.
The first essential lesson Tim learned was that Jesus must be the hope that he shares with the Filipino poor.
“When I got here I realized that people who were living on the edge of survival that they need hope. They need the hope of Jesus. And they need Him to come through for them daily. They need Him to provide their daily bread.”
Tim explained how the Christian church can help those living in material and spiritual poverty.
“If you’re looking at how to help people who are living in poverty, you have to think, ‘How can I help them go to the next level of becoming a Christian and applying God’s Word to their life and to their family?’ It could also be, ‘How can I help them financially, but in their home business or what they’re doing already to help themselves?’
Ultimately, Tim Swanson said that the most important thing is that the poor remember that Jesus is their benefactor, not us.
Kentucky Governor Makes An Unusual Plan to Combat Violence
Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin said Thursday that his plan to confront growing violence in Louisville is to have roaming prayer groups, reports MSN.com.
Bevin urged faith leaders, public officials and residents at a community meeting to take a 10-block span in the city’s West End, walk corner to corner, and pray with the community two to three times a week during the next year.
As of Thursday morning, Louisville Metro Police had handled 52 criminal homicide investigations, according to a Courier-Journal count. That put the department on pace to surpass the 118 investigations last year. An additional 145 people had been shot through April.
At least 400 people crammed into a school auditorium to listen to the governor’s speech, which was met with hecklers, applause and, occasionally, standing ovations.

Harvard Law School Declares That Unborn Babies Have Constitutional Rights
The Fourteenth Amendment, which was adopted in 1868, declares that no state shall “deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.” A debate that has been raging in courtrooms for years is whether the “life” part includes unborn persons.
Harvard Law student Joshua Craddock did some constitutional soul searching to answer that question in a new report for the Harvard Law Journal, concluding that unborn babies do indeed fall under the Fourteenth Amendment’s protections, reports Life News.
He believes it is reasonable to construe the Fourteenth Amendment to include prenatal life. The structure of the argument is simple: The Fourteenth Amendment’s use of the word “person” guarantees due process and equal protection to all members of the human species. The preborn are members of the human species from the moment of fertilization. Therefore, the Fourteenth Amendment protects the preborn.

13 Year Old Girl Kills Herself After Parents Allow Her to Change Gender
Just over a year after Jane Marie’s Christian parents allowed her to start living life as a boy named Jay Griffin, the troubled 13-year-old girl who was in therapy for depression, anxiety and identity issues killed herself inside her home in Trussville, Alabama last Thursday, reports The Christian Post.
Griffin’s parents, Matt and Erin, are grieving and now believe in hindsight that allowing their daughter to live as a transgender boy, was just too much for her.
Her mother said, “We’ve always just loved and accepted our children for whoever they are. I’m a very outspoken, tattooed Christian, very strong in my faith. We were just encouraging Jay.”
Interestingly, she explained to AL.com that she had prayed to have a boy all her life, and saw her daughter’s transgenderism as a “gift from God.”

Going to Church Helps You Live Longer Studies Show
New research says worship services might just be what the doctor ordered, reports USA Today.
A recent study of 5,449 participants by Vanderbilt University professor Marino Bruce has found that people who attend religious services live longer and are less stressed. The findings held true across faith traditions, said Bruce in a video posted to the university’s YouTube channel.
Specifically, the study says those middle-aged adults who go to church, synagogues, mosques or other houses of worship reduce their mortality risk by 55%. Just another good reason to obey the fourth commandment found in Exodus 20:8. “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.”
Vice President Pence Solidifying Republican Base in Iowa
Vice President Mike Pence is trying to solidify the Republican base in Des Moines, Iowa, where some conservatives complain President Donald Trump has much to prove and party leaders say he’s being undermined from within.
Headlining Sen. Joni Ernst’s annual summer fundraiser, Pence is promoting steady job numbers under Trump, who campaigned last year on promises of economic growth.
But it’s Pence’s boss who has more work to do to satisfy Iowa’s disproportionately influential Christian right, despite carrying Iowa by 9 percentage points in the 2016 election after Democrat Barack Obama won there in 2008 and 2012.
Mike Demastus, a pastor from Des Moines, in particular was upset that Trump failed to deliver on his promise of moving the U.S. Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, indicating last Thursday that it will remain where it is.
37 People Killed in Gunman Attack In the Philippines
Thirty-seven people were killed when a gunman carried out an attack at a resort and casino in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, reports CNN.
The heavily armed gunman walked into the Resorts World Manila casino, shooting patrons and setting fires causing dozens to die from suffocation. The Islamic State has taken responsibility for the attack.
Police reported a gruesome scene upon entering the casino’s second floor. Bodies were strewn across the floor, dead from suffocation. The perpetrator had used gasoline to set fires to casino property.
Palestinian Police Arrest Christians For Eating Publicly During Ramada
Palestinian police are working overtime enforcing Shariah law’s fast during Ramadan on Muslims and, oddly enough, on non-Muslims alike, reports WorldNetDaily.com.
At least four people, including Christians, have been arrested so far for daring to eat in public before sunset since last week when the month-long Muslim holy days began. A police statement said its officers had detained them for “paying no respect to the feelings of those fasting.”
Pro Life Groups Hope Lawmakers Keep Safeguards for Unborn in Health Care Act
Republicans are heading for a tipping point in healthcare negotiations and pro-life groups hope lawmakers don’t abandon safeguards for unborn children amid the legislative brawl, reports World News Service.
House Republicans passed the American Health Care Act on May 4.
Republicans already went through this process about 18 months ago. Using the same budget reconciliation process, the GOP passed legislation in January 2016 to repeal large parts of Obamacare, which included defunding Planned Parenthood. President Barack Obama promptly vetoed the legislation.
Michael Cannon, the Cato Institute’s director of health policy studies, said the best strategy for the GOP may be to do nothing and let Obama’s health law implode.
Supreme Court Going to Rule On Lifting Stay From Travel Ban
The Supreme Court could rule within days on whether to lift a temporary stay on President Donald Trump’s revised executive order banning travel from six mostly Muslim countries, reports Fox News.
The issue has become a major test of presidential power, especially in the area of immigration. A 1952 federal law– the Immigration and Nationality Act, passed in the midst of a Cold War fear over Communist influence– gives the chief executive broad authority.
The White House frames the issue as a temporary move involving national security. A coalition of groups in opposition call the order blatant religious discrimination, since the six countries involved have mostly-Muslim populations: Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen.
Scotland is Killing Disabled Unborn Babies
Scotland is aborting disabled babies, reports Life News.
John Deighan, the CEO of Scotland’s Society for the Protection of Unborn Children, said: “The new figures show us that there’s a contradiction between our commitment to equality for the disabled and a women’s ‘right to choose’. In Scotland, we rightly go to great lengths to accommodate people with a disability, yet as a society we are eradicating them before they are born, thus sending a bleak message to our disability community.”
