Sudanese Muslim judge sentences pastor to prison
A Muslim judge in Sudan, Africa sentenced Pastor Estefanos to a month in prison last week.
A couple weeks before that, Islamic extremists attacked the pastor’s church and beat him and several other congregants.
Pastor Estefanos and his church have suffered harassment from Muslim extremists for a long time. Church members have faced arrest, detention, and false accusation as well as the destruction of church property.
Despite some religious freedom advances in recent years, Sudan is number 13 on Open Doors’ World Watch List of nations where it is most difficult to be a Christian.
Madrid, Spain honors Reformation Day
Evangelical Focus reports Spain’s capital of Madrid agreed to recognize October 31st as Reformation Day and an important event in the region.
The recognition came after a meeting between Madrid’s government and the Evangelical Council of Madrid. The two groups discussed the history and contributions of Protestantism. The evangelical leaders gave the regional officials a Valera Bible 2020 edition and a book about the history of Protestantism in the city.
Proverbs 10:7 says, “The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot.”
Britain targets Franklin Graham again over Biblical views
U.K. officials are targeting Evangelist Franklin Graham again for his biblical views on marriage and sexuality.
Graham has put up bus advertisements in Liverpool, South Wales, Sheffield, and London for a preaching tour he is doing this month.
Liverpool Mayor Steve Rotheram called for bus companies to remove the Christian ads.
Rotheram told the BBC, “To say that I’m angry that the views of a known hate preacher — who has an appalling track record of homophobic and Islamophobic views — are being displayed anywhere in our city region would be an understatement.”
To object to Mayor Rotheram’s hostility to Franklin Graham, you can email him through a special link in our transcript today at www.TheWorldview.com. mayor@liverpoolcityregion-ca.gov.uk
James 1:20-21 says, “The anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. Therefore, put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.”
13 states have elections
U.S. voters in 13 states head to the polls this month for the 2022 primary elections.
Ohio and Indiana held their primaries on Tuesday.
Author J.D. Vance won the Ohio Republican Senate primary in what was seen as a test of former President Donald Trump’s influence on the GOP. Despite Vance’s past criticism of Trump, the former president endorsed Vance last month bringing him up from third place in the race.
Oklahoma GOP Governor signed heartbeat bill
Oklahoma’s Republican Gov. Kevin Stitt signed a heartbeat bill into law this week.
The law bans the killing of unborn babies with detectable heartbeats.
The measure also includes a private enforcement mechanism that allows citizens to sue abortionists who break the law.
Oklahoma is the third state after Texas and Idaho to pass such an abortion ban.
Worst U.S. inflation in 40 years
The U.S. is facing the worst inflation it has seen in 40 years.
In response, the Federal Reserve raised its benchmark short-term interest rate by half a percentage point yesterday. It’s the largest interest rate increase in over 20 years.
The Fed also said it will reduce its $9 trillion holdings, largely in Treasury and mortgage bonds. This will have the effect of raising loan costs.
Kirk Cameron’s Homeschool Awakening movie
And finally, actor Kirk Cameron is releasing a new documentary called “The Homeschool Awakening” next month.
Cameron is calling on parents to cultivate the hearts, souls, and minds of their children with Christian education.
CAMERON: “Since the pandemic we’ve been made grossly aware of the inaccurate and the immoral things that the public school system has been teaching our children and our grandchildren. And it’s up to us as parents to cultivate the hearts and minds and souls of our children toward what is good, toward what is right, beautiful, and true.
“The public school system unfortunately has not been working with us, but actively working against us. In my opinion, the public school system has become public enemy number one!”
Cameron told The Christian Post Christians should not be discouraged by ungodly culture around them because “those who are in covenant with God are the ones who change history and bring blessing and protection and prosperity for people and create the best families, the best businesses and the best cultures and nations.”
