After Secretary of State Mike Pompeo secured their release in Pyongyang, North Korea, the three American Christians gave Vice President Mike Pence a note during their meeting early Thursday morning, reports The Christian Post.
Pence said on Facebook, “It was an amazing moment I’ll never forget … when three Americans stepped onto the tarmac at Joint Base Andrews and gave me a signed personal note with Psalm 126 on the back. To these men of faith and courage — God bless you and welcome home!”
Psalm 126:1-3 says, “When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dreamed. Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, ‘The Lord has done great things for them.’ The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.”
AT&T, Novartis Regret Hiring Trump’s Attorney
Last Friday, AT&T ousted its top lobbyist, Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump’s personal attorney, saying it was a “big mistake” after paying Cohen $50,000 per month for a year totaling $600,000, reports Reuters.
Drugmaker Novartis said on Wednesday it had a $1.2 million contract with Cohen’s firm, Essential Consultants, but soon realized their agreement was a mistake as well.
Congresswoman Maxine Waters Roars on House Floor
Democrat Maxine Waters of California, an African-American Congresswoman, doesn’t want to hear any talk about making America great, especially if it’s coming from a straight white man, reports The American Mirror.
Waters went off the rails at a recent House debate when Republican Representative Mike Kelly of Pennsylvania, the owner of a car dealership, disputed her contention that the automotive industry discriminates against women and people of color.
Rep. Mike Kelly: “We are trying to make sure we are making America great every day in every way and the best way to do that is to stop talking about discrimination and start talking about the nation. We’re coming together as a people, in spite of what you say.”
Committee chairman Tom McClintock: “Gentleman’s time has expired. Members are reminded to address their remarks to the chair. The gentleman from Texas reserves. The gentlelady from California.”
Rep. Maxine Waters: “This business about making America great again. It is your president that’s dividing this country. And don’t talk to me about the fact that we don’t understand what happens on the floor of automobile ….”
Rep. Mike Kelly: “Will the gentlelady yield?”
Rep. Maxine Waters: “No, I will not yield. I will not yield.”
Rep. Mike Kelly: “Okay.”
Rep. Maxine Waters: “And don’t talk to me about the fact that we don’t understand … that’s the attitude that’s been given toward women time and time again.”
Committee chairman Tom McClintock: “The gentlelady will suspend. The chair wishes to remind all members that they are to address their remarks to the chair.”
Rep. Maxine Waters: “I resent the remark about making America great again. Having said that, I reserve the balance of my time.”
Rep. Mike Kelly: “Will the gentlelady yield?”
Rep. Maxine Waters: “And no, I do not yield, not one second to you.”
Rep. Mike Kelly: “Totally what I expected.”
Maxine Waters: “Not one second. Not one second to you.”
The hearing centered on Obama-era anti-discrimination regulations for auto lenders, which Republicans and some Democrats voted to reverse.
Stephen Hawking vs. Isaac Newton
Stephen Hawking’s family has invited time travelers to his memorial service in London, seeking to tackle one of the curiosities that eluded the British physicist, reports Reuters.
The ashes of the atheist scientist will be interred alongside the graves of Christian Isaac Newton and atheist Charles Darwin in Westminster Abbey on June 15.
At the moment of his death, Hawking knew instantly the claim of Newton was true. “Atheism is so senseless. When I look at the solar system, I see the earth at the right distance from the sun to receive the proper amounts of heat and light. This did not happen by chance.”
Apple Trounces Amazon’s Bank Account
Apple is vastly more profitable than Amazon.
The iPhone maker generated a $48.35 billion profit during its fiscal 2017 and made $13.8 billion in net income during the March 2018 quarter, while Amazon’s total net income since inception is about $9.6 billion, reports CNBC.
Pastor “Blesses” an Abortion Mill?
Echoing the words of former President Barack Obama, a Presbyterian minister named Marvin Ellison recently “blessed” a Portland, Maine abortion mill in God’s name, reports Life News.
In a column for the Press-Herald, the Planned Parenthood volunteer chaplain defended his abortion advocacy; ironically calling the murder giant’s work “life-affirming.”
Oprah Winfrey: Do the Right Thing
And finally, Oprah Winfrey delivered the commencement speech at the University of Southern California on Friday.
“A couple other thoughts before I go. Eat a good breakfast. It really pays off. Pay your bills on time. Recycle. Make your bed. Aim high. Say thank you to people and actually really mean it. Ask for help when you need it. And put your phone away at the dinner table. Just sit on it, really. And know that what you tweet and post and Instagram today might be asked about at a job interview tomorrow, or 20 years from tomorrow. Invest in a quality mattress. I’m telling you, your back will thank you later.

Trump vs. Nixon
Despite MSNBC’s nightly comparisons of Trump’s legal woes to Watergate, even a prominent liberal like Democratic Representative Adam Schiff of California is trying to downplay talk of impeachment, reports Bloomberg.
Back in July 1974, Democrats had large majorities in both the House and the Senate in, when the House Judiciary Committee voted in favor of three articles of impeachment. In his resignation speech Nixon said he was quitting because he no longer had a “strong enough political base in the Congress.” Not strong enough, he meant, to survive an impeachment trial.
Russian Jets near U.S. Airspace
A pair of U.S. Air Force stealth fighter jets intercepted two Russian nuclear-capable bombers Friday morning 55 miles off the coast of Alaska, a spokesman for the North American Aerospace Defense Command told Fox News.
However, at no time did the bombers enter North American sovereign airspace.
Andy Stanley: Christians Should “Unhitch” from Old Testament
North Point Community Church Senior Pastor Andy Stanley has stated that Christians need to “unhitch” the Old Testament from their faith, reports The Christian Post.
In the final part of a recent sermon series, Stanley explained that while he believes that the Old Testament is “divinely inspired,” it should not be “the go-to source regarding any behavior in the church.”
To justify this, Stanley preached last month about Acts 15, saying, “[First century] Church leaders unhitched the church from the worldview, value system, and regulations of the Jewish scriptures. Peter, James, Paul elected to unhitch the Christian faith from their Jewish scriptures, and my friends, we must as well.”
Talk show host Michael Brown, a Messianic Jew, disagreed with Stanley, writing, “To do so is to make a grave mistake. It would be like ‘unhitching’ our torsos from our legs. Or demolishing the first story of a house once the second story was completed. In his zeal to reach the lost, he has dangerously overstated his case.”
In Matthew 5:17-20, Jesus said that He did not come to abolish the Law or Prophets but to fulfill. In other words, He did not cancel, He confirmed (see Romans 15:8-9). He did not remove the foundations, He strengthened the foundations.
Austin Bomber Questioned Sexuality
Several years before embarking on a bombing spree that terrorized Austin, Texas, Mark Conditt, a homeschool graduate, turned against his family’s devout Christianity and declared himself an atheist, reports the Austin American-Statesman.
The 23-year-old became increasingly isolated, turning his back on previous friendships, losing his job in the tech industry, and, according to interim Police Chief Brian Manley, questioning his sexuality.
Texas Nightclub: Men Should Dress Like Men
When Bobby Rodriguez approached Whiskey River nightclub to dance, the security guard at the door said, “Unfortunately, you cannot enter because you are wearing makeup and we have a rule here that says men need to dress like men”, reports the Corpus Christi Caller Times.
Rodriguez said, “I literally had to walk back to my car and rip my false lashes off and wipe off my lipstick. I was so upset, I mean, who wouldn’t be?”
Angela Blohm, the nightclub owner, said, “Whiskey River has a standard dress code that states everyone must dress gender appropriate to the gender stated on their state-issued driver’s license.”
Love-Struck Woman Sends 65,000 Texts After First Date
After meeting a man through a dating site, 31-year-old Jacqueline Ades of Phoenix, Arizona, sent him 65,000 text messages, some of which were threatening, and even showed up at the victim’s workplace, claiming to be his wife, reports CBS 5.
When confronted about the fact that 65,000 text messages seemed more threatening than loving, she replied, “When you find love, everything is not perfect. I love him.”
She was booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail on charges of threatening, stalking, and harassment.
Abraham Lincoln Library Forced to Sell Artifacts
The foundation that supports the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum says it might have to sell the stovepipe hat and the bloodstained gloves Lincoln purportedly wore the night he was assassinated if it can’t pay off a decade-old loan that financed items related to the 16th president, reports the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library Foundation owes $10 million on a 2007 loan.
John McCain Stirs Pot from Sickbed
As Senator John McCain of Arizona battles an aggressive brain cancer, he is not going away quietly, reports The Associated Press.
In his new book, The Restless Wave, he’s stirring up old fights and starting new ones by attacking “spurious nationalism” and claiming that political polarization is the enemy of good policy. Rarely has the sickbed been so lively.
California City to Spy Online
West Sacramento, California is the first city to launch a controversial new program that watches what people post about it online, reports CBS13. They’re using Zencity, a system that crawls through publicly available social media posts on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
The pilot project gives city leaders a look at what’s trending in the city, whether it’s good or bad. But it’s also creating privacy concerns around how the data is being used.
Cheerleading Team’s Abusive Hazing
Kansas University’s cheerleading team has been put on probation after two female members came forward last year with stories of being subjected to physically and emotionally abusive hazing, which allegedly included forced nudity, reports the New York Post.
Gas to Peak at $3/Gallon
Gasoline prices are expected to peak at a national average of around $3 per gallon by the Fourth of July holiday. But with summer driving season officially kicking off on Memorial Day about two weeks from now, the average price of unleaded gas is already at $2.85 a gallon, according to AAA.
