Communists Shut Down Beijing Church

Zion Church, one of the largest unregistered churches in China, was driven out of their lawfully rented headquarters in Beijing recently, reports AsiaNews.

The Protestant church, attended by 1,500, refused to register with the government or allow for government surveillance cameras in their place of worship. Six satellite centers of the main church have been shut down.

Chinese officials continue to harass and shut down churches that will not compromise with the political power.

As the Apostle Peter said in Acts 5:29, “We ought to obey God rather than men.”

UK Church in Dramatic Decline; 52% of Brits Have “No Religion”

The Church of England and the Church of Scotland are facing “unrelenting decline” according to a recent British social attitudes survey.

Affiliation with the Church of England has dropped from 31 percent to 14 percent over the last 15 years while affiliation with the Church of Scotland has dropped from 31 percent to 18 percent over the same period.

Young adults identifying with the Church of England are now at two percent. And 52 percent of Britons say they have no religion at all.

God Allows South African Recession as White Farmers’ Land is Taken

The country of South Africa has tipped into a recession after two consecutive quarters of gross domestic product decline, reports South Africa’s Business Day.

The primary factor was a decline in agricultural production. This comes as the ruling African National Congress has pushed for land expropriation without compensation.

Kavanaugh: Government Cannot Force Deadly Drugs on Christian Groups

During his continued confirmation hearing for U.S. Supreme Court last Thursday, Judge Brett Kavanaugh reaffirmed his case involving Priests for Life that the government cannot force religious groups to provide abortion-inducing drugs, reports TIME.

“Under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, the question was first, ‘Was this a substantial burden on their religious exercise?’  And it seemed to me quite clearly it was. It was a technical matter of filling out a form in that case, but they said filling out a form would make them complicit in the provision of the abortion-inducing drugs they were, as a religious manner, objected to.”

Kavanaugh’s reference to “abortion-inducing drugs” sparked outrage in the abortion lobby, some even saying that women’s health and lives at stake.

Proverbs 12:5 says, “The thoughts of the righteous are just; the counsels of the wicked are deceitful.”

Trump Reopens Indonesian Christian Deportation Cases

The Trump administration has reopened the asylum cases for over 40 Indonesian Christians facing deportation back their home country, reports New Hampshire Public Radio.

The Indonesian refugees fled persecution in Indonesia decades ago and have been living in New Hampshire.

The asylum reopening came after a judge ruled the government could not deport the Christians while they were trying to reopen their case.

Sodomite Lawmaker Plans New Anti-Christian Bill

In God’s providence, Democratic California Assemblyman Evan Low, and open homosexual, withdrew the infamous Assembly Bill 2943 after saying he met with religious leaders in the state.

The bill would have made it illegal to counsel those with unwanted homosexual desire.

However, Low plans on introducing a different version of the bill next year, reports LifeSiteNews.

Voice of the Voiceless, a Christian group representing those saved from unnatural relations, denounced the upcoming bill, saying Low needs to take their experience into account.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 says, “Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality . . . will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.”

Facebook Users are Bailing, Using Less, Deleting App

As Facebook has faced data leaks and conservative suppression scandals, Americans are changing their relationship with the social media platform.

Pew Research found that 54 percent of users over 18 years of age have adjusted their privacy settings, 42 percent have taken a break from Facebook for at least several weeks, and 26 percent have deleted the app altogether from their phone. All told, 74 percent of users did one of the three actions in the past year.

Policeman Adopts Homeless Woman’s Daughter

While on patrol, Santa Rosa, California Police Officer Jesse Whitten met a homeless woman who asked him and his wife if they could adopt her daughter.

Jesse and his wife Ashley, already the parents of three girls, took in another, naming her Harlow Maisey Whitten.

Jesse told Good Morning America recently about his new daughter, “I fell in love right away.”

“Seek Humility”: Christian Conference Theme in Kerrville, Texas

On a personal note, I wanted to thank Forge Ministries, led by Michal Moody, for organizing a compelling conference this past weekend in Kerrville, Texas entitled “Seek Humility.”  It was based on the verse from Zephaniah 2:3 which says, “Seek the LORD, all you humble of the land, you who do what He commands. Seek righteousness, seek humility;  perhaps you will be sheltered on the day of the LORD’s anger.”

I found the talks from Scott Brown, Jeff Pollard, John Latham, Dennis Gunderson, Stephen Hopkins, Wesley Strackbein and Phil George to be both convicting and inspiring. You can inquire about getting a thumb drive of all the talks through newsletter@forgeministries.org.
