Taiwanese Earthquake
After a 6.4-magnitude earthquake rocked Taiwan at 11.50pm yesterday, a hotel collapsed on the east side of the island with two hotel staff reported dead, 180 injured, and 30 people trapped inside, reports The Daily Mail.
Christ-Like Forgiveness for Egyptian Enemies
A Christian woman named Samiha Awad who was left disfigured by a large bombing at St. Peter’s Church in Cairo, Egypt in December 2016 has said that Jesus miraculously kept her alive, reports Open Doors USA.
Her husband, Qalini, rushed his wife to the hospital, though she was hardly recognizable after the attack, having lost half her face.
After multiple surgeries, Awad said that she doesn’t have anger for the attackers, saying, “If I would meet the family of the attacker, the only thing I would ask them is: ‘Do you know Jesus?’ I pray they will find the right way.”
Awad has taken Matthew 5:44 to heart. “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”

Why Evangelicals Back Trump
Tony Perkins, President of the Family Research Council, appeared on “The Billy Hallowell Podcast” to provide context for controversial remarks he made in an interview with Politico.com.
After clarifying that he agreed to support Donald Trump when it came down to a choice between him and Hillary Clinton, Perkins laid out what it would take for evangelicals to coalesce behind candidate Trump.
“One was that he would commit to pro-life judges. He became the first Republican nominee to actually put out a list of what he called pro-life judges. We said that he would have to pick a solid running mate that was a conservative, had a record. He picked Mike Pence. And then third, as one who helped write the party platform, we said he couldn’t mess with the platform, trying to water it down. What he actually did was he wrapped himself in the most conservative party platform ever.
“So, in describing that, I said, You know evangelicals kind of gave him a mulligan. They said, ‘Look, we know your past. We don’t agree with it. We don’t like it. It’s reprehensible to us, but we’re going to start fresh and work forward.’
“So, nothing has changed since the president took office. In fact, what he’s done is he’s kept his promises, he’s not been engaging in what is alleged to have happened in the past. So new allegations are not going to change how evangelicals view the president unless we’re talking about behavior that is happening right now. That was the context of that comment.”
Despite all of this, Perkins said that evangelical leaders’ support for Trump isn’t unconditional and that it really hinges on him keeping his promises and not falling into bad patterns of past behavior.
How You Can Fight Oregon Euthanasia Bill
An Oregon euthanasia bill that failed to pass last year is being re-introduced as House Bill 4135 that would allow the caretakers of patients with mental illnesses to choose to starve them. Right now, these patients are still protected under the law except in limited situations.
The World View spoke to David Kilada of Oregon Right to Life about why they were able to defeat similar legislation last year and why it might be harder this year.
“We were able to stop it, and a huge part of that was the thousands of calls or emails from pro-life people really around the country asking legislators to oppose it. This session it’s moving forward and it could move really quickly. The best thing in our advantage is the session only lasts 35 days this year so if they were going to have time before they pass it, it won’t go anywhere.”
Kilada emphasized that legislators really do listen to the voices of those who will take the time to call in and speak out for the lives of these people who are in danger.

Key to long life? A good wife!
And finally, Esmond Allcock of Saskatchewan, Canada, celebrated his 108th birthday on January 26th.
When Esmond was asked how he managed to live a long and happy life, he replied, “I didn’t behave myself for a few years there, but then I got a really good wife,” reports SunnySkyz.com.
Esmond and his wife Helen, who died seven years ago, were married for 72 years.
Proverbs 18:22 echoes his counsel. “He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the LORD.”

Peace in a cramped North Korean jail cell
Esther was sentenced to a few months detention in a small North Korean labor camp after she was arrested for escaping to China. She and 40 other inmates were “treated like animals” as they were packed in a two-by-two cell, reports Premier.org.
In the midst of that “hellish situation”, Esther met a Christian woman in the cell who had a peace that didn’t make sense. When she asked the believer for her secret, she was told, “Just pray like me. Thank you, God, for everything. Do what you wish. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.”
Esther said thanking God for being in prison seemed a bizarre thing to do but she did it anyway and asked God to release her. Soon afterwards they were both released, and Esther escaped into China for a second time, started attending a Bible study, and said, “I started to experience the living God. Of course, I believed in Christ and I confessed my sins.”
Open Doors estimates that there are between 300,000 Christians in North Korea, worshiping secretly, or imprisoned in labor camps.
McCain kicks Trump’s wall to curb
Senators John McCain, Republican from Arizona, and Chris Coons, Democrat from Delaware, introduced a bipartisan bill Monday to give a pathway to citizenship for beneficiaries under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program without funding the $25 billion to build the southern border wall, reports World Magazine.
Will West Virginia say no to tax-funded abortions?
A West Virginia bill that would end taxpayer funding for abortions in the state is slated for a public hearing Monday in the state House.
West Virginia is one of 17 states that funds elective abortions for low-income women through Medicaid. This coming Monday, a public hearing has been scheduled for State House Bill 4012 which would end taxpayer funding for abortions except when medically necessary to save the mother’s life, reports the Associated Press.
Montana ACLU teams up with pro-abort group
Montana’s ACLU has teamed up with abortion activist group Center for Reproductive Rights to sue the state of Montana to allow advanced practice registered nurses to perform abortions in the state, reports The New American.
How reality TV star took a stand for life
Kylie Jenner, a model and the reality star from the cringe-worthy show Keeping up with the Kardashians, described her out-of-wedlock pregnancy as the “most beautiful, empowering, and life changing experience I’ve had in my entire life,” reports Life News.
Before she gave birth to her baby girl named Stormi on February 1st, Jenner shared a heartwarming video contained footage of her daughter before birth, kicking her mother’s stomach, providing audio of a heartbeat, and moving in a 3D ultrasound of her face at 25 weeks gestation.
Olympic Committee condones pre-marital sex
During the London Olympic Games in 2012, the athletes went through 100,000 condoms in the first week, prompting the International Olympic Committee to place an emergency order for more, reports EliteDaily.com.
That’s why during the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the Committee purchased 450,000 condoms for the 11,200 athletes.
And during this year’s winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, the Olympic Committee has purchased a whopping 110,000 condoms for the 3,000 athletes.
