A powerful magnitude-7.2 earthquake shook south and central Mexico Friday, causing people to flee swaying buildings and office towers in the country’s capital, where residents were still jittery after a deadly quake five months ago claimed 369 lives, reports the Associated Press.
Trump vs. Dreamers
On Friday, the U.S. Supreme Court discussed in private how to handle President Donald Trump’s appeal of a judge’s decision blocking his plan to end protections for young illegal immigrants dubbed “Dreamers.”
The nine justices could announce as early as tomorrow whether they will take up the case, reports Reuters.
Oregon House Votes for Euthanasia Bill
We’ve been keeping a close eye on the Oregon euthanasia bill — HB 4135 — which would allow for the starvation and dehydration of patients with Alzheimer’s and dementia who can still eat.
Sadly, last Friday, HB 4135 was voted out of the State House of Representatives.

More Guns, Less Crime in Minnesota
Minnesota set a record last year for the number of gun background checks the FBI conducted in the state. Yet to the surprise of leftists in the media, the crime rate remains relatively low, reports WCCO.
According to the FBI, Minnesota’s violent crime rate hit a 50-year low in 2016. And in 2017, the state set a new record of nearly 683,544 firearms background checks.
“Black Panther” Movie Set “Felt Like Church”
Sope Aluko, a Christian actress born in Nigeria, Africa who holds U.S. and British citizenship, said that the movie set of “Black Panther” felt “almost like church”, saying, “During breaks we shared our testimony of how we got to where [we] did and most of the people were testifying to God’s miracles,” reports Okay Africa.
Christians make up 40 percent of Nigeria’s 186 million people, so this actress’s faith should not be surprising. The positive reception of that faith in Hollywood — and the fact that other stars were witnessing about God as well — would strike many Christians as a welcome surprise.
The Nigerian Christian cast members from the movie “Black Panther” echoed the words from Daniel 4:2. “I want you all to know about the miraculous signs and wonders the Most High God has performed for me.”
Airlines Employee Rescues Teens from Sex Trafficking
Law enforcement officials say that a quick-thinking American Airlines agent at California’s Sacramento Airport, aptly named Denice Miracle, likely saved two teenage girls from a human trafficking plot, reports AOL.com.
On August 31st, two girls, aged 15 and 17, approached her counter, trying to board a flight to New York, had no form of identification, no adult guardians, and their one-way first class tickets were purchased online with a credit card under a name that did not match what either of the teens had provided.
A man named “Drey”, whom they met on Instagram, told them that if they flew to New York for the weekend, he would pay them $2,000 to model in a music video.
Authorities say they located “Drey” on social media, but after briefly making contact with him, he erased all of his profiles on social media.
The teens were reunited with their parents who were likely surprised to learn their daughters weren’t spending the night at a friend’s home like they had been told.
Ken Ham Now Allowed to Speak the Truth
On January 27th, a sodomite group at the University of Central Oklahoma pressured the student government to disinvite Answers In Genesis founder Ken Ham from speaking on campus about his objection to Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution.
However, after getting pushback from concerned state legislators, local residents, and Oklahoma alumni about the denial of Ham’s right to free speech, in Constitution Hall no less, President Don Betz re-invited him.

An Olympian Honors His Proverbs 31 Wife
And finally, Team USA freestyle skier David Wise, a halfpipe specialist who took the gold in the freeski halfpipe event at the 2014 Sochi Games, has one foot in the snow, and the other in church, reports Christian Headlines.
He and his wife, Alexandra, lead the youth group at their church in Reno, Nevada, where Wise grew up.
In addition to having endured two injuries and three concussions, his sister lost a leg in a boating accident, his father-in-law died, his wife suffered serious postpartum depression, and his son had a health crisis he almost didn’t survive.
His skiing, Wise wrote on his blog before leaving for Pyeongchang, suffered, and some of his sponsors abandoned him.
His wife brings him joy, whom he calls “a true proverbs 31 woman,” a reference to the “wife of noble character”.
“She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. … Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”

World View Special Report: The Parkland, Florida School Shooting

The FBI was warned last month that Nikolas Cruz, a former 19-year-old student who had been expelled from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, was an armed psycho who might shoot up a school — but the FBI did not bother investigating, the agency admitted Friday, reports the New York Post.
The FBI confessed that “a person close to” Cruz called the agency’s tipline on January 5th and reported the 19-year-old had a “desire to kill people, erratic behavior, and disturbing social media posts” and there was “potential of him conducting a school shooting.”
But the agency said it failed to pass on any of that information to its Miami field office, even though its own protocols say he “should have been assessed as a potential threat to life.”
A little over a month later, last Wednesday Cruz allegedly gunned down 17 people at his former high school.
Lewis Mizen, a 17-year-old student at the high school where the attack took place said, “The FBI has failed. It’s going to be a mark on their name forever. Their mistakes have cost the lives of 17 people. There are people dead because they failed in their jobs.”
Cruz’s history: Autism, Violence, Death of Parents, Cutting, Demonic Voices
Having battled autism, Cruz lost his father 12 years ago, and then his mother died of pneumonia last November.
For a young man, bent on violence toward animals growing up, a fascination with guns, and who developed a terrible temper, the death of his mother might have been his breaking point, according to a Washington Post piece.
In 2016, Cruz was investigated by state authorities after he filmed himself cutting his own arms on Snapchat and saying he wanted to buy a gun, reports The Daily Mail.
Cruz posted the video on the social media app in September 2016, 17 months before he allegedly entered the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and used an AR-15 assault rifle to kill 17 people on Wednesday.
He posted the Snapchat clip just days after turning 18 years of age and shortly after he broke up with his girlfriend “who was cheating on him,” his mother told investigators.
Cruz revealed investigators that he heard demonic voices in his head, giving him instructions on what to do to conduct the attack, law enforcement sources told ABC News.
Police Came to Cruz Home 39 Times over 7 Years
Before Nikolas Cruz carried out his mass killing at a Florida high school last week, police responded to his home 39 times over a seven-year period, reports the New York Post.
The nature of the emergencies at his Parkland home included “mentally ill person,” “child/elderly abuse,” “domestic disturbance” and “missing person,” reports KTLA.
Cruz — who posted images of himself on Instagram posing with guns and knives — has confessed to killing 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland and made an alarming online comment about a recent mass shooting, saying, “Man I can do so much better.”
Parent of dead teen calls for gun control on CNN
Lori Alhadeff, whose 14-year-old daughter Alyssa was gunned down this past Wednesday, spoke out in the midst of her grief and anger on CNN.

“How? How do we allow a gunman to come into our children’s school? How do they get through security? What security is there? There’s no metal detectors. The gunman, a crazy person, just walks right into the school, knocks down the window of my child’s door, and just starts shooting and shooting her and killing her.
“President Trump, you say, ‘What, what can you do?’ You can stop the guns from getting into these children’s hands. Put metal detectors at every entrance to the schools. What can you do? You can do a lot! This is not fair to our families that our children go to school and have to get killed.
“I just spent the last two hours putting the very arrangements for my daughter’s funeral who is 14. President Trump, please do something. Do something. Action. We need it now! These kids need safety now!”
In a Facebook post, Alyssa’s mother wrote, “I wish I could have taken those bullets for you. I will always love you and your memory will live on forever. Please kiss your children, tell them you love them.”
During a funeral last Friday for 18-year-old Meadow Pollack, her father looked down at his daughter’s plain pine coffin and screamed in anguish.
“My kid is dead. … This is just unimaginable that I will never see my princess again. I wasn’t able to do anything about it. I have always been able to protect my family. Our kids should be safe.”
President Trump Offered Comfort from Bible
Following the Parkland, Florida high school shooting, President Donald Trump offered words of comfort from the Bible.
“In these moments of heartache and darkness, we hold on to God’s word in scripture: ‘I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. I will heal you.’
We trust in that promise, and we hold fast to our fellow Americans in their time of sorrow.”
President Trump and the First Lady traveled to Florida on Friday to meet with survivors and victims of the school shooting and to thank the first responders who helped them. The president said it’s “very sad that something like that could happen”, reports World Magazine.
Florida Legislators Commit to Rebuilding Classrooms
Parkland, Florida students will never be returning to Building 12 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School again where a madman killed 14 students and three teachers.
Florida legislators said last Thursday they will provide the $30 million necessary to help the Broward School District tear down Building 12, the site of the massacre. They want to build a new classroom space and replace the site of the murders with a memorial to honor the victims and their families.
Sen. Bill Galvano, R-Bradenton said, “This building has to come down. There were significant blood splatters on the wall. Like someone took a milk jug and exploded it.”
Bulletproof Backpack Sales Soar
Bulletproof backpacks, called Bullet Blockers, which cost $200 to $500, have seen a 30 percent boost in sales following the deadly shooting which killed 17 people at a Florida high school, reports The Daily Mail.
The product is capable of stopping a 357 Magnum, 44 Magnum, 9mm, and .45 caliber hollow point ammunition.

Psalm 7:14 describes the alleged gunman Nikolas Cruz to a “t”, saying, “Whoever is pregnant with evil conceives trouble and gives birth to disillusionment.”

North Korea Cracking Down on Border During Olympics
North Korean security measures along the border with China have been further tightened in recent days, following authorities’ failure to stop smuggling and defections during a special month-long security mobilization period, reports Radio Free Asia.
Deployments of border guards and other forces were then doubled through February 20 to prevent mass defections or other embarrassing incidents during the Winter Olympics now being held in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
Grand Jury Indicts 13 Russian Nationals in Mueller Probe
A federal grand jury has indicted 13 Russian nationals and three Russian entities for alleged illegal interference in the 2016 presidential elections, during which they strongly supported the candidacy of Donald Trump, special counsel Robert Mueller’s office said Friday, reported CNBC.
The indictment says that a Russian organization called the Internet Research Agency sought to wage “information warfare” against the United States and to “sow discord” in the American political system by using fictitious American personas and social media platforms and other Internet-based media.
ICE Cracks Down on L.A. Illegals, Businesses
Federal deportation officers staged one of the biggest enforcement actions in years against businesses in Los Angeles this week, arresting 212 people and serving audit notices to 122 businesses that will have to prove they aren’t hiring illegal immigrants, reports the Washington Times.
Nearly all of those arrested were convicted criminals, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Olympics Costs More, Fewer Viewers
NBC paid $963 million for the rights to air the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea, a 24 percent jump over the $775 million it paid for the last Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, reports Recode.net.
While NBC has sold $900 million in ad sales, a record according to the network, their viewership is down 9% from Sochi.
Sexual Abuse Victim of Former Seattle Mayor Dead
Delvonn Heckard, the Kent, Washington man whose sexual abuse lawsuit against Seattle Mayor Ed Murray last year prompted other allegations to come to light — eventually leading to Murray’s resignation — was found dead early Friday of an apparent drug overdose in an Auburn motel, reports the Seattle Times.
Heckard, whose parents were both crack cocaine addicts who each died of a drug overdose, had been in recovery for addiction to cocaine and other illicit drugs himself when he sued Murray in April. The 47-year-old alleged that the Seattle mayor had repeatedly paid him for sex in the late 1980s when he was a teenager.
He recently received a $100,000 payment as part of a $150,000 settlement with the city of Seattle to dismiss his suit against Murray and the city.
George Soros Wants EU to Control Facebook
In an article for The Guardian, billionaire leftist activist George Soros has demanded the European Union actually regulate social media because voters’ minds are being “manipulated”, claiming that Facebook and Twitter are a “public menace” and argued they had led people to vote against globalist causes.
Soros has met with the EU’s unelected leaders 11 times since the Brexit vote, and has pumped half a million pounds into groups trying to block Brexit and overthrow the Tory government.
Sounds like Mr. Soros is himself the Master Manipulator.
Pro-Abort Policies in Africa: The New Colonialism
At the United Nations, two women were squaring off: one, a Danish abortion advocate, the other, African pro-life scientist Uju Ekeocha, reports Life News.
The Danish feminist admitted that she was “a bit provoked” by Uju’s claim that Western countries are once again engaging in colonialism. In her view, she announced, African women should be able to decide for themselves what to do with their bodies, including how many babies they want, and whether to have abortions.
Uju responded with brilliance.
“Culturally, most of the African communities actually believe, by tradition, by their cultural standards, that abortion is a direct attack on human life,” she explained. “So for anybody to be able to convince any woman in Africa that abortion . . . can be a good thing, you first of all have to tell her that what her parents and her grandparents and her ancestors taught her is actually wrong.
“And that, Madame, is colonialism.”
Shocking Olympic Upset
It’s been one of the biggest upsets in the Winter Olympics in South Korea.
An instant after completing her run in Saturday’s Olympic women’s super-G, Ester Ledecka of the Czech Republic stood motionless in the snow as she gazed in disbelief at the scoreboard where her name was atop the list of finishers, reports the New York Times.
Professional snowboarders racing on hand-me-down skis do not win gold medals in ski events at the Winter Olympics.
Ledecka, currently ranked 43rd in the women’s World Cup super-G standings, outpaced a field that included the American Lindsey Vonn, who was competing in the Olympics for the first time in eight years.
Ledecka’s time of 1 minute 21.11 seconds was one-hundredth of a second faster – the narrowest margin of victory possible in Alpine racing — than the silver medalist Anna Veith of Austria, the defending champion in the event.
