Chinese Christian elder sentenced to prison for Christian books

The communists have tried Elder Qin Defu of the Early Rain Covenant Church, and have sentenced him to four years on the trumped-up charge of “illegal business operations”, reports CBN.

At issue was the possession of 20,000 books which the church kept for their own use.  Based on this sentencing, Pastor Wang Yi’s lawyer estimates that the pastor will be sentenced to “no less than 10 years in prison.”

The Filipino Category-4 Typhoon

A Category 4 Typhoon is slamming into the Philippines in the early morning hours of Tuesday, reports the Associated Press.

Missionary Tim Swanson, Kevin Swanson’s brother, ministers on Mindaro Island, located right at the center of the path of Typhoon Kammuri. This was his on-the-ground report.

SWANSON: “Right now, we’re all waiting for the typhoon to hit. We started to have some heavy rains, and the winds should hit us in a few hours. Yesterday, we went out and about, and everybody’s getting ready for the typhoon to hit. It’s going to be a big one. If you have a cement house, and a generator, with windows–glass windows–generally, you’ll probably be okay if you have doors in your house, etc. But if you are living in a smaller home that is not cement and is made out of plywood, bamboo, and scraps of lumber, scraps of sheet metal, then it’s difficult to prepare for a storm of this size. A lot of the people we minister with and to live in houses that are not secure, so pray for them.”

Mexico eager to ban spanking

A bill gaining traction in the Mexican legislature would ban spanking in the country, reports Mexico News Daily.

The Mexican Senate approved the bill unanimously last week, and it moves on to the lower house. Sixty-one countries have now banned child corporal punishment, including New Zealand, Scotland, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Costa Rica and Spain.

The President of the Philippines vetoed a ban on spanking earlier this year, while the ban was recently incorporated by Scotland and France. Japan’s anti-spanking ban is set to go into effect in April of 2020.

However, Proverbs 23:13-14 provides God’s wisdom. “Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you strike him with a rod, he will not die. If you strike him with the rod, you will save his soul from Sheol.” (ESV)

Chick-fil-A funds lots of pro-homosexual, pro-abortion groups

Both the ChristianPost.com and LifeSiteNews have issued more investigative reports on Chick-fil-A’s funding of pro-abortion and pro-homosexual groups.

These include the YWCA, a partner of Planned Parenthood.  Recent funding also went to the Southern Poverty Law Center which is best known for its persecution of American Christian groups over the last 10 years for their affirmation of a Biblical perspective on marriage and sexuality.

In addition to funding Covenant House, which is an advocate for homosexuality and takes girls to abortion mills, Chick-fil-A gave sizable donations to the pro-abortion Pace Centers, the New Leadership Council, the Disuptivator Summit, and the pro-homosexual Chris 180 organization.

A Life Site News article is claiming that Chick-fil-A is being “publicly dishonest about their corporate evolution.”

So far, two petitions are gaining traction across America, asking the restaurant franchise to reconsider its funding priorities.  The American Family Association petition has topped 100,000 signatures, and the Life Site News petition has garnered over 40,000.

Proverbs 17:15 reminds us that “He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the just, both of them alike are an abomination to the Lord.”

Supreme Court hears Second Amendment case

The U.S. Supreme Court is hearing oral arguments in an appeal on a New York City law which disallows American citizens in the city to bear arms, reports Time Magazine.

The law does not allow the transportation of a locked and unloaded handgun from a house to some location outside of the city.

Catholic church denies communion to lesbian judge

CNN reports of a Catholic diocese in Michigan that is refusing communion to Judge Sara Smolenski, the openly lesbian chief judge of Michigan’s 63rd District Court, who is married to a woman.

Also, Democrat candidate for president Joe Biden was denied communion at a Catholic church in South Carolina last month because he advocates for abortion in opposition to church teaching.

America’s debt has gotten 34% larger in a year

The United States Federal Government wrapped up its fiscal year with a record deficit for the year of $984 billion, 34% larger than the previous year.

The deficits produced by the Trump administration have averaged 4% of the Gross Domestic Product, while the deficits produced in the last four years of the Obama administration averaged 3% of the GDP.

Some troubles in the American economy

In October, US industrial production demonstrated its worst results since 2009 reports Zero Hedge.

Auto loan 90-day delinquencies hit an historic high of $62 billion in the third quarter of 2019, almost twice what it was during the peak of the last recession due to the greed of the sub-prime lenders, reports WolfStreet.com.

A study conducted by Open Study College found that the average millennial between the ages of 25 to 34 has worked six jobs in their career fields. That’s roughly the same number of jobs worked by the average 50-year-old in similar fields.

Democrats vs President Trump

The Democratic-controlled House of Representatives is planning to move ahead with the impeachment of the president in meetings tomorrow. On tap is a discussion on what constitutes an impeachable offense.

President Trump called the meeting a hoax, and political analysts at this point find the Republican Senate highly unlikely to make any moves toward removing the president from office.

As the prophet Daniel stated, “Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His. And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.” (Daniel 2:20-21)
