13 killed in Virginia Beach massacre
In reaction to America’s latest mass shooting, Virginia Beach, Virginia Mayor Bobby Dyer had this to say.
“This is the most devastating day in the history of Virginia Beach.”
A disgruntled 40-year-old public utility employee named Dwayne Craddick opened fire with a handgun on co-workers at a municipal building in Virginia Beach on Friday afternoon, killing 13 people and wounding at least four before he was fatally shot by police, reports Reuters.
Megan Banton described the scene.
BANTON: “We were all just terrified.”
POLICE: “We have a victim down along with somebody shooting.”
BANTON: “You hear this all the time on the news, but you don’t think it’s ever going to happen to you. Basically, it was like, ‘This is not a drill. Get down. Call 911.’”
DISPATCHER: “Still actively hearing gun shots.”
POLICE: “Shots fired. Shots fired. Second floor. He’s going up the steps.”
BANTON: “I’ll probably have a lot of trouble sleeping at night. Going home and hugging my family. I have an 11-month-old baby at home, and all I was thinking about was him and trying to make it home to him.”
Please pray that God would comfort and strengthen the families who have lost loved ones. And pray for the healing for those still recovering from their wounds.
Trump to Mexico: 5% tariff is coming unless you stop the illegals
President Donald Trump tweeted, “on June 10th, the United States will impose a 5% Tariff on all goods coming into our country from Mexico, until such time as illegal migrants coming through Mexico, and into our country STOP. The Tariff will gradually increase until the Illegal Immigration problem is remedied.”
The Associated Press reports that the threat throws into question the future of the United States Mexico Canada Agreement, hammered out in months of contentious negotiations as a replacement for the North American Free Trade Agreement, one of the Trump administration’s most touted achievements.
From berries and automobiles to machinery and household appliances, all of Mexico’s exports stand to be hit with the tariffs.
California Governor to pregnant mothers: We’ll kill your babies!
In response to the growing number of state legislatures passing protective pro-life laws to ensure that babies in the womb will not be harmed, California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom invited women to kill their babies in the Golden State where they even offer state-funded abortions for poor women, reports CBS13.

Ohio library cancels Drag Queen demonstration for teens
An Ohio library canceled a class for teens interested in learning about drag culture after facing backlash from people both in the community and beyond who saw the event as inappropriate, reports Yahoo.com.
The Delaware County District Library’s Orange branch had plans to host a “Drag 101” class on June 5, taught by drag queen Selena T. West, a former Miss Gay Ohio America and Miss Gay Heart of America.

Illinois forcing pro-life parents to pay for minor daughter’s abortion
Pro-life parents who object to their minor daughter’s abortion would be required to pay for it and could be held liable under a pro-abortion bill that passed the Illinois House last Wednesday, reports Christian Headlines.
The bill, H.B. 25, liberalizes the state’s abortion laws and declares abortion a “fundamental right” and passed in a vote of 64-50.

And finally, in the months before an American missions team arrived in Haiti, protests and riots broke out, reports Christian Headlines.
The Haitian petroleum deal with Venezuela had come to an end and the price of fuel jumped by 50 percent. Gang violence, tire burning, and roadblocks became commonplace around the country.
Team member Jackie Brandon described the scene. “The truck was just totally swarmed with men and guns and weapons. And they were pounding on the windows trying to break all the windows to get in.”
April Pasler, in the second vehicle with Dr. Doug Burbella, said, “We thought they were going to execute everybody.” Men on a motorcycle pulled up beside them and shot the truck with a barrage of machine gun fire. After the window blew out behind Pasler’s head, he heard Dr. Burbella yell out, “I’m dying. I’ve been hit.” He had been shot in the neck, jaw and spine.
A gunman put a rifle to Burbella’s head when an incredible act of providence took place. A man pulled up on a motorcycle. In English, he told Pasler, “it’s okay, it’s going to be okay.” Then, the man stepped in front of the bandits and spoke several words to the mob in Creole. The crowd slowly backed off.
Members of the group rushed Burbella to the closest hospital, which was over an hour away. He did not know if he would live until he made it to the hospital, so he recorded a video giving his last words to his family. He told them, “Honey, I just want you to know I love you, and I love you, Michael. Michael, I want you to be a pilot. Don’t ever give up on that dream. Live for the Lord.”
Burbella survived the drive to the hospital. Then, he was flown from Haiti to a U.S. hospital in Delray Beach, Florida where surgeons successfully operated.
Burbella told CBN News, “I want people to know that if God can carry me through this with no loss of any function, really, whatever problems you have, they’re equally minuscule. It’s a miracle.”
Psalm 34:7 possibly describes the mystery man who intervened. “The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him, and rescues them.”

Nairobi Muslim mob stormed church with stones and machetes
Nearly two weeks ago, a disagreement between Muslims and the local community in Nairobi, Kenya culminated in a mass attack by young Muslim men. The mob injured several Christians and destroyed the property of four churches: Kingdom Gospel for All Nations Ministry, Evangelical Victory Church International, End Time Army Church, and Kale Heywot Church, reports International Christian Concern.
The dispute arose on Thursday night, May 16, when a Muslim group in the city was holding an outdoor debate. Some locals from the community complained about the noise and large crowd that had formed, and called the police. The police came and confiscated the group’s sound system and dispersed the function due to the public disturbance. The local Somali Muslim population then assembled into a mob. The next day, the mob destroyed much of the four churches, and attacked local Christian-owned shops.
Pastor John of Kingdom Gospel for All Nations said, “The hatred reached a climax last week when a group of Muslim adherents stormed our church building armed with stones, machetes, and petrol. They were reacting to police orders of regulating their public religious debates that had become chaotic and a threat to the local Christians. They broke into the church and damaged everything; from chairs to sound equipment. They also attempted to set the church on fire, but police arrived and contained the situation.”
Churches have been urged to have armed guards and install surveillance equipment to help curb the threat.
Hong Kong government takes a stand for Biblical marriage
The Hong Kong Government has backed marriage as being between one man and one woman during a court case on legalizing homosexual marriage, reports The Christian Institute.
The current law is being challenged by a woman who wants to enter a civil union with her girlfriend.
A government lawyer defended Biblical marriage, arguing that introducing homosexual marriage would “dilute and diminish” marriage between opposite-sex couples.
