Nigerian Muslims kidnapped 7 Christians

On August 21st, Fulani Muslim militants kidnapped seven Christians at gunpoint from a restaurant in Bauchi State, Nigeria. The terrorists are demanding a ransom of $2,600 which is an immense sum for a struggling rural family, reports International Christian Concern.

In addition, even a short walk for food for the Christians there has become a perilous journey due to the constant threat of attacks. Many Christian villages in the region have fallen under the control of these Fulani terrorists.

So far this year, Nigerian Muslims have killed more than 1,000 Christians. No wonder Open Doors has designated Nigeria, Africa as the sixth most dangerous country worldwide for Christians.

Vivek Ramaswamy vs. Nikki Haley over U.S. assistance to Ukraine

During the recent GOP presidential debate, Vivek Ramaswamy, a successful businessman who has never run for elective office, explained why he was the lone candidate on stage to oppose any more military assistance to Ukraine in their war against Russia.

RAMASWAMY: “The same people who took us into the Iraq War, the same people who took us into the Vietnam War. You cannot start another no-win war. I do not want to get to the point where we’re sending our military resources abroad when we could be better using them here at home to protect our own borders. Protect the homeland.”

Nikki Haley, South Carolina’s previous governor and President Trump’s Ambassador to the United Nations, disagreed.

HALEY: “A win for Russia is a win for China. We have to know that. Ukraine is the first line of defense for us. And the problem that Vivek doesn’t understand is he wants to hand Ukraine to Russia. He wants to let China eat Taiwan. He wants to go and stop funding Israel. You don’t do that to friends.

RAMASWAMY: “False, false.”

HALEY: “What you do instead is you have the backs of your friends. Ukraine is a front line of defense. [Russian President Vladimir] Putin has said, ‘Once Russia takes Ukraine, Poland and the Baltics are next.’ That’s a World War. We’re trying to prevent war. Look at what did today. He killed [Yevgeny] Prigozhin. When I was at the United Nations, the Russian ambassador, [Andrei Karlov], suddenly died. This guy, [Putin], is a murderer, and you are choosing a murderer over a pro-American country.”

RAMASWAMY:  “I wish you well in your future career on the boards of Lockheed and Raytheon.

HALEY: “I’m not on the boards of Lockheed and Raytheon.”

Haley and Ramaswamy discuss funding for Israel

HALEY: “You want to go and defund Israel. You have no foreign policy experience and it shows!”

RAMASWAMY:  “You know what? Friends help each other stand on their own two feet. So, I will lead Abraham Accords 2.0.  I will partner with Israel to make sure Iran never is nuclear armed. But you know what I love about Israel? I love their border policies. I love their tough on crime policies. I love that they have a national identity and an Iron Dome to protect their homeland. And so yes, I want to learn from the friends that we’re supporting. What puzzles me….”

HALEY: “No, you want to cut their, [Israel’s], aid off.”

RAMASWAMY: “I want to learn from those and apply those to protect our homeland, Nikki.”

HALEY: “Let me tell you. It’s not been Israel needs America. America needs Israel.”

In a subsequent interview on Hannity’s Fox TV show, Ramaswamy clarified his policy on funding for Israel.

RAMASWAMY: “What I said is, it would be a mark of success if we ever got to a point in our relationship with Israel if Israel never needed the United States’ aid.”

5 pro-life rescuers unjustly face 11 years in prison

Last Tuesday, a jury found five pro-life activists guilty of violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act. They were immediately incarcerated following the verdict and could face more than a decade in prison for their efforts to prevent women from killing their preborn babies, reports LifeSiteNews.com.

Back in October 2020, Lauren Handy, 29; Jonathan Darnel, 40; Jay Smith, 32; Paulette Harlow, 73; Jean Marshall, 72; John Hinshaw, 67, Heather Idoni, 61;  William Goodman, 52; and pro-life heroine Joan Bell, 74, blocked access to the abortion mill called Washington Surgi-Clinic in downtown D.C., in a traditional rescue. Pro-life rescues involve activists physically intervening to try to stop women from getting abortions.

They’ve taken the counsel of Proverbs 24:11 to heart. It says, “Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter.”

Defendant William Goodman urged his supporters “to forgive the jury, the judge, and all those who witnessed against us, and to pray that they would see how God loves the gift of every human life.”

All the defendants were led away and Goodman was handcuffed after the judge determined that the pro-life rescuers must be immediately detained pending sentencing since the nature of their FACE Act violation amounted to a “crime of violence.”

Steve Crampton, senior counsel with the conservative Thomas More Society law firm, called the immediate incarceration due to the alleged “violence” of the crime “an outrage” since “the one thing the defendants had really agreed upon was to remain non-violent. The real violence is what happens during the abortion procedure.”

Lila Rose, founder and president of Live Action, says the jury’s decision has set “a horrific precedent for jailing Americans for exercising their 1st Amendment rights,” reports CBN News.

She added, “From the beginning, this trial has been a sham with a completely biased pro-abortion judge who has made a mockery of our justice system. This decision will be appealed, and we demand it be overturned. These activists are heroes, and the Department of Justice has acted capriciously and illegitimately.  These charges stem from the FACE Act which exists to target and chill the free speech of pro-life Americans. Their acts of bravery to protect innocent human life from notorious D.C. abortionist Cesare Santangelo have been punished by the corrupt DOJ.”

Sarah Young’s Jesus Calling has 10 theological problems

And finally, Sarah Young, the Presbyterian missionary and bestselling author of the popular devotional Jesus Calling which sold tens of millions of copies and was named “Christian Book of the Year” in 2013 and 2018, has died at the age of 77.

Young was not without her critics in evangelicalism, as prominent blogger Tim Challies warned in a 2015 post that Jesus Calling was “a deeply troubling book” that had 10 major theological problems.

He wrote, “Far and away the most troubling aspect of the book is its very premise—that Sarah Young hears from Jesus and then dutifully brings His messages to her readers.”

Proverbs 30:6 warns, “Do not add to His words or He will reprove you, and you will be proved a liar.”
