Pence Breaks Tie to Confirm Betsy DeVos
School choice advocate Betsy DeVos was narrowly confirmed yesterday as the next education secretary despite deep opposition from teachers unions and other groups, after Vice President Pence intervened to cast a tie-breaking vote, reports Fox News.
Pence’s vote marked the first time in American history that a vice president has broken a tie on a Cabinet nominee’s Senate confirmation – and the first tie-breaking vote by a VP since 2008. Pence was compelled to cast the vote after two Republican senators – Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska – joined all 48 Senate Democrats in opposing DeVos.
Trump Tells Bill O’Reilly Being President Is a Surreal Experience
Bill O’Reilly taped an interview with President Trump in the White House which aired on Sunday and asked a personal question.
O’REILLY: “You get four hours of sleep or some crazy thing like that. When your head hits the pillow, do you ever say to yourself, ‘I can’t believe I’m here. I cannot believe that I’m the president of the United States.’ Does that ever come into your mind?”
TRUMP: “Well, I must tell you, the other day, I walked into the main entrance of the White House, and I said to myself, ‘This is sort of amazing.’ Or you walk into Air Force One. It’s like a surreal experience, in a certain way, but you have to get over it because there’s so much work to be done.”
Nancy Pelosi Refers to George W. Bush as Current President
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi made reference to George W. Bush as the current president on Monday – to the embarrassment of her political colleagues.
“We’ve seen nothing that we can work … that I can work with President Bush on. I’m disappointed because I thought that there might be some interest because of what he said in the campaign.”
Congresswoman Maxine Waters Says Trump Should Be Impeached
At that same presser, Democrat Congresswoman Maxine Waters of California asserted that President Trump should possibly be impeached because, among other things, he has embraced Russian President Vladimir Putin whom she claims invaded “Korea” instead of the Eastern European region of Crimea.
“How can a president, who is acting in the manner that he’s acting, whether he’s talking about the travel ban, the way that he’s targeting Muslims … The fact that he is wrapping his arms around Putin while Putin is continuing to advance into Korea. … We’ve got to do something about him. We cannot continue to have a president who’s acting in this manner.”
It appears that the Trump election has rattled the Democrats to their core.
Protests Against Planned Parenthood Happening Across the Country this Saturday
Nationwide protests are happening this Saturday at various Planned Parenthood abortion clinics across the country. The World View spoke to Eric Scheidler of Pro-Life Action League on these protests.
“The whole #ProtestPP began in the summer of 2015 in response to the undercover videos we all saw showing Planned Parenthood officials scheming to harvest and profit from the sale of body parts from children they had aborted at their so called health centers.”
Scheidler says the protests are important even when the mainstream media ignores the pro-life cause.
“Well, that mainstream media silence is exactly why it’s so important for people to take action themselves to try to defund Planned Parenthood. When we hold these kind of coordinated events we do get interest from the media.”

Ephesians 5:11 says, “Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.”

Isaiah 5:20 says, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil.”
Seven Tornadoes Recorded in Louisiana Yesterday
Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards said seven confirmed tornadoes were recorded in at least six different parishes yesterday, reports Fox 6 News. The storm system damaged dozens of homes and businesses and left thousands without power. However, Edwards told reporters, “But the Lord has blessed us because not a single fatality has been reported or confirmed at this time.”
Pastors in Africa Speak Out Against Female Genital Mutilation
The insidious practice of Female Genital Mutilation persists among the Maasai tribe in southern Kenya and Northern Tanzania, Africa, reports the Religion News Service. In a painful surgery, women circumcisers use knives, razors or scissors to remove the labia and/or the clitoris as part of a rite of passage for girls ages 9 to 18. Despite the fact that Kenya banned this ancient ritual in 2011, the practice has gone underground.
Christians like Pastor Stephen Tipatet have spoken out against this barbaric practice and have set up rescue centers for these young women.
Woman Divorcing Her Husband of 22 Years for Voting for Trump
The Trump presidency is now being blamed for a marital separation and impending divorce, reports Reuters.
After 22 years of marriage, Gayle McCormick, a retired California prison guard and a self-described “Democrat leaning toward socialist,” was stunned when her husband casually mentioned during a lunch with friends last year that he planned to vote for Trump – a revelation she described as a “deal breaker.”
The 73-year-old woman said, “It totally undid me that he could vote for Trump,” who had not thought of leaving the conservative Republican before, but felt “betrayed” by his support for Trump.
Senator Al Franken Aggressively Questions Trump’s Cabinet Nominees
Democrat Senator Al Franken of Minnesota, the former Saturday Night Live comedian, isn’t a punchline in the Senate anymore, reports the National Journal.
He’s emerged as one of the Democrats’ most aggressive and effective questioners of President Trump’s Cabinet nominees. He’s generated numerous made-for-TV clips as one of the few Democrats willing to go full-bore against his party’s top targets—Jeff Sessions, Tom Price, and Betsy DeVos. And he’ll be one of nine Democrats on the Judiciary Committee questioning Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Neil Gorsuch.
This is Senator Franken’s moment in the spotlight, and if he chooses, he could parlay his good fortune into a bid for the presidency in 2020.
MSNBC Reporter Suggests Trump Would Have Journalists Killed
MSNBC Katy Tur thinks President Donald Trump is capable of having journalists killed. During an interview with Nebraska Senator Deb Fischer, a Republican, Tur suggested Trump would take a page from Russian President Vladimir Putin’s playbook and start targeting journalists for death.
“As we know, there’s, since 2000, been a couple dozen suspicious deaths of journalists in Russia who came out against the government there. Donald Trump has made no secret about going after journalists and his distaste for any news that doesn’t agree with him here. Do you find that this is a dangerous path he is heading down?”
Newsbusters.org concluded that it’s reporting like this that helps to create the circumstances for the violent rhetoric we’re seeing from the Left, such as Madonna talking about blowing up the White House and comedian Sarah Silverman calling for a military coup.
Chicago Mayor Says Democrats Won’t Regain National Power Anytime Soon
On Monday, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel warned Democrats they need to “take a chill pill” and realize that they are not going to take back national power anytime soon, saying “It ain’t gonna happen in 2018,” reports the Chicago Tribune.
Speaking at Stanford’s Graduate School of Business in California, Emanuel believes the road map back to power for his party includes putting moderate candidates such as veterans, football players, sheriffs and business people up in Republican districts.
100 People Gather in Support of Christian Flag in Town Memorial Garden
Late last month, Mayor Walter Williams of Rienzi, Mississippi, received a threatening letter from the Wisconsin-based Freedom From Religion Foundation, reports the Christian Post. The atheist group exclaimed that the town was violating the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment by flying a Christian flag at the town’s Veterans Memorial Garden and called for the government to remove the flag.
The letter, written by attorney Sam Grover, also warned that other towns have had to pay hefty sums for trying to fight legal battles to defend the right to display Christian flags or other Christian icons on public property. Grover highlights the case of King, North Carolina, which in 2015 had to pay $500,000 in legal fees after it was sued for having a Christian flag and a statue of a soldier kneeling before a cross on public grounds.
Mayor Williams caved to the intimidation. But last Saturday, 100 people, including some Christian bikers, gathered at the memorial garden to show their support for the town’s right to display the Christian flag, according to local CBS affiliate WREG.
Susan Woodruff said that she came to the rally as a “proud American” and “proud Christian” to “stand up for the Lord and stand up for our freedom.”
