Andrew Brunson: Persecution stretched me, Prayers sustained me
Pastor Andrew Brunson and his wife Norine spoke about persecution at the Pastors’ Conference of the Southern Baptist Convention on Monday in Birmingham, Alabama.
The Turkish government arrested Brunson back in 2016 despite decades of faithful work in the church there. Brunson suffered years of imprisonment, isolation, and trials before finally being released at the end of last year.
Brunson told thousands gathered at the pastors’ conference, “This is the reality of suffering and persecution. It’s very, very difficult … it stretched me beyond what I could handle, but there was grace and there were a lot of prayers sustaining me.”
Isaiah 41:10 says, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
90 German pastors baptized 500 people
For Pentecost Sunday on June 9, 50,000 people joined 20 different open-air preaching events across Germany.
German news website Idea Spektrum reported that 90 pastors with the Northern Church baptized 500 people in Hamburg with 5,000 people attending the celebration.
Despite dwindling church attendance and belief in God in the country, Germany is experiencing a sustained growth among evangelicals which now make up about two percent of the population, reports Evangelical Focus.
Botswana, Africa decriminalized homosexuality
Botswana became the latest country to decriminalize homosexuality on Tuesday, a landmark case for Africa, as the country’s High Court rejected laws punishing it with up to seven years in prison, reports the Associated Press.
Botswana is the fifth country in the last five years to decriminalize homosexuality, joining over two dozen other sub-Saharan African countries. Meanwhile, 67 countries and territories worldwide still criminalize such sexual perversions.
Romans 1:26-27 says, “For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.”
California in hot water for raiding Christian school
A Christian school in California is in a major legal battle with the state.
Back in January, California Highway Patrol, two canine units, and 17 social workers conducted a raid on River View Christian Academy in northern California, reports Pacific Justice Institute which is now representing the school.
The state initiated the raid over misinformation that the school was housing illegal drugs and stockpiling weapons. Instead of apologizing for the blunder, California started imposing daily fines unless the Christian school submits to extensive licensing, which would violate the school’s Biblical standards by allowing students to engage in “spiritual and sexual exploration.”
Jesus said in Matthew 10:22, “And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.”
Vermont and Illinois pass abortion-up-to-birth laws
While many states are passing some of the most protective pro-life measures, other states are passing radical pro-abortion bills.
Vermont Republican Governor Phil Scott signed a bill on Monday, legalizing the murder of unborn babies for any reason up to birth, reports LifeNews.com.
And on Wednesday, Democratic Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker signed a similar bill reports World Magazine, stripping protections from unborn babies and allowing abortions up to birth. The bill also removed protections for pro-life doctors and insurers who object to the killing.
200 Canadian theaters to show pro-life film “Unplanned”
Finally, the pro-life movie “Unplanned,” is headed to Canada, telling the story of Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood executive turned anti-abortion activist, reports CBN News.
Originally, Cineplex Entertainment banned the movie from their theaters, which account for about 80 percent of Canadian theaters.
However, “Unplanned” will now be shown across Canada thanks to independent distributor Cinedicom, following a nationwide boycott of Cineplex. Up to 200 theaters across Canada are expected to show the movie now.
A Veteran & Prayer Warrior express gratitude for The Worldview
Jim Vallance in Chesapeake, Virginia, wrote, “I am a Veteran who trusted Christ in the Navy. I enjoy your clear lens into the daily events.”
And Pam Griffin in San Antonio, Texas, wrote, “I am a Prayer Warrior. As you relay the world news, I have added so many to my prayer list that I would have never known to pray over for their predicament.
“Like the American Pastor Lin imprisoned in China, like Leah and the other girls kidnapped by the Muslim terrorist group Boka Horam in Nigeria, Africa, like Asia Bibi, the Pakistani Christian woman sentenced to death for blasphemy against Islam before her exoneration, release and asylum to Canada.”
