California Senate makes illegal help for those with unwanted homosexual desire
By a vote of 25 to 11, the California Senate has passed the infamous AB 2943 bill which would make illegal any attempt to help people who are experiencing unwanted homosexual desire and possibly challenge them to turn to Christ.
Republican Senator Joel Anderson made a very clear argument against the bill from the floor.
“We’re not talking about people under the age of 18. We’re talking about adults. We’re talking about adults seeking help because they are questioning. And because you’re questioning to be straight, somehow that’s wrong and evil. But if they question to be gay, than that’s good and acceptable. You can’t have it both ways. I don’t want to deny them that access to help. And that’s what we’re doing today with this bill.
“Remember, this is only for adults. They’re all opting in. Nobody is recruiting them. No one is holding them against their will. No one is forcing them to go through torture. They’re requesting it. And what we’re saying is ‘You don’t have the right to get health care help.’ I urge a no vote.”
The language of the bill includes all “advertising, offering to engage in, or engaging in sexual orientation change efforts with an individual.” In fact, the bill subjects churches and ministries to lawsuits under the state’s consumer fraud law.
And the bill bans the sale of “goods and services” that might “engage in sexual orientation change efforts.” Some have suggested the Bible itself would qualify as a banned book under the law.
The bill passed the California Assembly back on April 19th, by a vote of 50 to 18.
Remember in Acts 5 when something similar happened? “And when they had [arrested the Apostles], they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them, ‘Did not we strictly command you that you should not teach in this name? And, behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.’ Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, ‘We ought to obey God rather than men.’”
Tibet outlaws attempts to convert to Christianity
California is not the only place that is outlawing conversions.
The nation of Tibet incorporated a new civil and criminal code in which Christian conversions will be banned by law. Anybody who encourages or is involved in religious conversion will face a jail term of five years and a $500.00 fine. Any foreigner found guilty of such practice will be deported within a week.
Pope’s open letter about Catholic abuser-priests
The Pope in Rome has now recognized the disintegration of the reputation of the Roman Catholic Church . . . with an open letter released over the weekend, acknowledging the harm done in the widespread sexual abuse of children.
This comes on the heels of a nightmarish Grand Jury report released in the State of Pennsylvania, detailing how 301 priests abused more than 1,000 children over decades. The report details how the church leadership protected the perpetrators.
One online petition is calling for all United States bishops to resign as “a public act of repentance and lamentation before God.” The petition notes that “The catastrophic scale and historical magnitude of the abuse makes clear that this is not a case of ‘a few bad apples‘, but rather a radical, systemic injustice manifested at every level of the Church.”
The Apostle Paul told us of this kind of thing in 2 Timothy 3: “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves. . . without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!”
Chelsea Clinton: Abortions helped women boost economy
Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of the former president, told a conference celebrating Roe v. Wade, that abortion has enabled women to enter the work force and produce trillions of dollars in the economy.
In response, Evangelist Franklin Graham pointed out on Twitter that “Hitler probably also claimed that killing the Jews would be good for their economy.”
Secretary of State Pompeo’s prayer at Trump Cabinet meeting
C-SPAN recorded a prayer which took place during President Trump’s Cabinet meeting last Thursday.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo read a prayer out of the West Point Cadet prayer book.
President Trump: “I think we’ll start with Secretary Pompeo saying a prayer.”
Secretary Pompeo: “If you’ll bow your heads, I’ll do the prayer.
“O God, our Father, Thou Searcher of men’s hearts, help us to draw near to Thee in sincerity and truth. May our religion be filled with gladness and may our worship of Thee be natural.
“Strengthen and increase our admiration for honest dealing and clean thinking, and suffer not our hatred of hypocrisy and pretense ever to diminish. Make us to choose the harder right instead of the easier wrong, and never to be content with a half truth when the whole can be won.
“Endow us with courage that is born of loyalty to all that is noble and worthy, that scorns to compromise with vice and injustice and knows no fear when truth and right are in jeopardy. …
“Help us to maintain the honor of the [United States] untarnished and unsullied and to show forth in our lives the ideals of [America] in doing our duty to Thee and to our nation. All of which we ask in the name of our Great Friend and Master of men. Amen.”
President Trump: “Thank you and you’re doing a great job too.”
Secretary Pompeo: “Thank you sir.”
766 Canadian babies survived abortions, only to be killed
According to the Canadian Institute for Health Information, a total of 766 babies have been left to die in hospitals and abortion mills in Canada over a five-year period.
These children were victims of failed abortions, and subsequently victims of infanticide at the hands of medical professionals. Quoted in the National Post, Dr. Douglas Black, president of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, said “If [the child] exhibits a heartbeat or signs of motion, then they are subsequently allowed to pass away, depending on what the circumstances are, sometimes in their mom’s arms.”
