Wildfires rip through Northwest after moral anarchy reigned supreme

Ninety-four major wildfires are burning along the west coast, bringing devastation to Washington, Oregon, and California.  Thirty-five people have died.

With 4.6 million acres burned across 10 states, Washington has had the second worst fire season on record, and California is suffering its worst, with 3.3 million acres torched thus far.  Oregon’s tally is likely to exceed all previous fire seasons, and the loss of life may also exceed the previous record.

All three affected states have been plagued with protests and riots since June.  And all three states have given way to increasing levels of moral anarchy over the last few years as California legalized recreational marijuana in 2016, Oregon did so in 2015, and Washington state did so in 2012.

God issued warnings to Sidon in Ezekiel 28:17-18 for the pride of this pagan state. “Your heart was proud because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor. I cast you to the ground. … By the multitude of your iniquities, in the unrighteousness of your trade you profaned your sanctuaries; so I brought fire out from your midst; it consumed you.”

Nigerian Muslims kill pastor and two other Christian men

International Christian Concern reports another pastor and two other Christian men were killed last week by Islamist Fulani militants in Northern Nigeria.  The 45-year-old Rev. Alubara Audu, along with Adamu Tata, a father of four, and Ishaku Peter, another father of five, were killed in Kaduna state.

The genocide against Christians in the state continues with the apparent support of Governor Nasir el-Rufai.

China prosecutes homeschooling parents

China is prosecuting homeschooling parents now, reports International Christian Concern.

In one of the first cases on record, a “Reformed” house church pastor, You Guanda, of Dianqian Church in Xiamen City has been summoned to court, with his wife, on charges of homeschooling their children.

The pastor’s court hearing is scheduled for 9 am on September 23rd. Please pray!

Pastor John MacArthur defied court orders, held church on Sunday

Opposing a court restraining order issued last Thursday which prohibited worship at Grace Community Church, Pastor John MacArthur and the church elders held church anyway on Sunday, September 13th.

Pastor MacArthur told his congregation, “Obviously, this is not constitutional, but more importantly, it goes against the will of the Lord of the church, Who calls us together.”

Charles Stanley retires, remembered for warning about gov’t schools

Pastor Charles Stanley, 87 years old, has announced his retirement from the pastorate of First Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia.  Stanley was divorced in 2000, and his son Andy Stanley pastors a church in Alpharetta, Georgia.

Pastor Charles Stanley will be remembered for his controversial, yet highly appropriate warnings on the dangers of public schooling, made back in the 1990s.

STANLEY: “When you send that child off to school today, you’re sending them into a pagan society. Because, with few exceptions, the school system is not going to teach them to believe God, they’re not going to teach them to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ or to honor Him. But they’re going to — by the way they teach, by the things they teach, little by little — do what? —  attack your faith.”

Proverbs 15:6 remind us “In the house of the righteous there is much treasure, but trouble befalls the income of the wicked.”

Worldwide depression setting in

The American economy is still up in the air — the unemployment numbers highly uncertain for the time being.

The Street.com reports Americans were collecting on 27,017,000 total unemployment claims by the end of August, slightly down from 32,000,000 in July.  Some of those receiving pandemic assistance may still be working part time, putting the real unemployment number somewhere between 14,500,000 and 27,000,000 (up from 3.5 million in February) — between 9% and 17%.

A worldwide depression is settling in, with second quarter GDP numbers trickling in.  South Africa’s economy was hit by an unprecedented 51% annualized contraction, or a 16% quarterly contraction. In addition, India experienced a 25% quarterly contraction, Canada contracted 11.5%, and the U.S. contracted 9.1%. The average contraction for G20 nations came out at 12%.

Morgan Stanley estimates that the annual drop for the U.S. economy was around 3.4%. That would be the worst economic drop for the nation in 75 years.

The Girl Scouts rejected God and embraced moral relativism

Today on Generations Radio, tune in for my second conversation with Patti Garibay, the founder of American Heritage Girls, a Christian version of the Girl Scouts.

When Patti had been a Girl Scouts parent volunteer, she became alarmed when the group made the pledge to God optional, advocated moral relativism, and championed a disturbing weekend called “Sexuality & You” for 12 to 14-year-olds which celebrated gender confusion and sexual perversion antithetical to God’s design. It’s all chronicled in her book Why Curse the Darkness When You Can Light a Candle?

Lubbock, Texas wants to be sanctuary for unborn too

And finally, the Christian Post reports that 14 cities in Texas have declared themselves sanctuaries for the unborn.  And now, Lubbock is considering a similar stance.

The proposed ordinance before the mayor and city council states: “It shall be unlawful for any person to procure or perform an abortion of any type and at any stage of pregnancy in the city of Lubbock, Texas.”

Planned Parenthood has announced plans to put a clinic in the city by the end of 2020. We’ll see how that goes.
