Chinese Christian Woman Mentally Tortured for Not Blaspheming God
China jumped 16 spots on the Open Doors World Watch List this year to become the 27th worst country for Christians persecution.
Since last year, China has authorized “legal education centers” where local governments “educate and transform” people influenced by “extremism.”
One Christian woman in China’s Zhejiang province told the Bitter Winter magazine how she was mentally tortured in one such indoctrination camp for not blaspheming God. Jian Yongjiu said she was forced to watch videos condemning her faith and even deprived of sleep because she refused to renounce Christ.
Jian was eventually released, but she said, “If I were not guided by the word of God, I would have been driven crazy. The [Chinese Communist Party] is evil.”
Psalm 119:92 says, “Unless Your law had been my delight, I would then have perished in my affliction.”
India’s New Ruling Party: Withdraw “False Cases” of Forced Conversions
The new ruling Congress Party of India’s Madhya Pradesh state announced they will be withdrawing “false cases” of forced conversions against religious minorities, including Christians, reports International Christian Concern.
The previous Hindu nationalist party—the BJP—often used false accusations of forced conversions to harass and imprison Christian pastors.
Venezuela Has a New President
Venezuela’s opposition leader, Juan Guaido, declared himself the interim president of the country on Wednesday, winning the support of President Donald Trump along with several Latin American nations, reports Reuters.
This came after President Nicolás Maduro was sworn in for a second term this month following a disputed election. Thousands have been protesting in Venezuela’s capital against Maduro after years of economic hardship.
Meanwhile, Christians in the country are calling for prayer. Samuel Olson, President of the Evangelical Council of Venezuela, urged the nation to pray “together as a family, asking God that through His Holy Spirit He would care for, direct and, bless our nation in this critical hour of its history.”
Proverbs 29:2 says, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when a wicked man rules, the people groan.”
Trump’s HHS: Christian Adoption Agency Has Right to Select Christian Parents
The Trump administration is defending the religious freedom of a faith-based adoption agency in South Carolina to only work with families who share their Christian beliefs, reports World Magazine.
Yesterday, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services sent a letter to South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster, granting Miracle Hill Ministries an exception from the Obama-era HHS nondiscrimination rules.
NY Catholic Conference to Cuomo: Your Extreme Abortion Bill is Shocking
On the 46th anniversary of Roe v. Wade this week, New York state legislators legalized the murder of unborn babies up until birth and removed all restrictions on late-term abortions.
The New York State Catholic Conference condemned the new law as a tragic moment in the state’s history.
In an open letter to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo who signed the bill, Bishop Edward B. Scharfenberger wrote, “Although in your recent state of state address you cited your Catholic faith . . . Your advocacy of extreme abortion legislation is completely contrary to the teachings . . . of our church. Once truth is separated from fiction and people come to realize the impact of the bill, they will be shocked to their core. By that time, however, it may be too late to save the countless lives that will be lost or spare countless women lifelong regret.”
Harvard Medical Aligns with Popular Sexual Perversions
Harvard Medical School is undergoing a comprehensive review of what it teaches about transgenderism and sexuality in order to better align with the current popular sexual perversions, reports CBN News.
The new overhaul of course study called “The Sexual and Gender Minorities Health Equity Initiative” will teach “all students and faculty clinicians can become exceptionally well equipped to provide high-quality, holistic health care for sexual and gender minority patients of all ages.”
Super Bowl Stadium’s Chick-fil-A to Remain Closed to Honor God
The Chick-fil-A located at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia where the Super Bowl will be held on Sunday, February 3rd, will remain closed in honor of the Lord’s Day despite the big business opportunity, reports USA Today.
The company said, “Having worked seven days a week in restaurants open 24 hours, Truett saw the importance of closing on Sundays so that he and his employees could set aside one day to rest and worship if they choose — a practice we uphold today.”
Proverbs 119:72 says, “The law of Your mouth is better to me than thousands of coins of gold and silver.”
