9/11 Anniversary

Seventeen years ago today, Muslim terrorists attacked the twin towers of the World Trade Center. The co-anchors of New York Good Day were already talking about the hijacked 767 commercial jet airplane which had crashed into the north tower at 8:45 a.m.

“It appeared to bank sharply and smash directly, perhaps purposefully, into … Woaa. Oh my goodness, there’s another one. Oh my goodness, there’s another one. This seems to be on purpose. Oh my goodness. Is that a plane? Now it’s obvious I think that there is a second plane that just crashed into the World Trade Center. I think we have a terrorist act of proportions that we cannot begin to imagine at this juncture.”

The time was 9:03 a.m. And the south tower had just been hit by a second hijacked airplane.

Hurricane Florence to Hit the Carolinas

Providentially, a gigantic hurricane is headed toward America’s East Coast. It could be the strongest to hit the coast in decades.

CBS Affiliate Questions Church Sign with Bible Verse

Bethlehem Church in Yorktown, Virginia stirred up controversy with local media, including WTVR, a CBS television affiliate, when they posted a Bible verse in front of their church building.

Are you sitting down? It was Ephesians 5:22. “Wives submit to your husbands as to the Lord.”

WTVR-TV featured the remarks from local resident Helen Gauthier.

“I’m very bothered that that is on a main road that people can see that. I don’t think that it would be an appropriate thing to be putting for women, especially that have come through and suffered abuse and came out on the other side of it.”

Fresno Pacific Demotes, Dismisses Faculty over God’s Sovereignty

Fresno Pacific University, a college with Anabaptist roots, has announced a demotion for the president of its seminary, and the dismissal of three mega-church pastors who served as adjunct faculty.

Of particular concern was Pastor Greg Boyd’s view of open theism, which calls into question God’s foreknowledge of the future and His complete sovereignty over all His creatures and all their actions.

The university is interested in maintaining improved relations with the Mennonite Brethren denomination, reports the Mennonite World Review

Isaiah 46 describes our sovereign God in these words: “Remember the former things of old, for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me,  declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand. And I will do all My pleasure.”

Colorado Family Mourns Death of Little Boy in Parade

And finally, a Colorado Christian family is facing the loss of their little boy, after a tragic accident occurred in a parade last week.

The little 9-year-old, Brycen Zerby, fell under a float representing his church, while passing out Gospel tracts in the parade. His father, Jimmy Zerby, issued a statement full of faith and hope picked up by Colorado media.

“In the midst of the worst days of our lives, the overwhelming presence of God has been carrying us through. Brycen was the best of boys, brothers, sons, and friends. He loved Jesus and found joy in generously serving our Savior. Our sweet boy woke up so excited on Monday to serve with our church in the parade, inviting people to hear the good news, and we find the unrelenting hope in the fact that while we were fighting to save our baby boy from this horrendous accident, he was bathed in the glory of God as he met his Savior and Creator face-to-face.”

According to reports from those attending the funeral on Friday, a number of persons from the community confessed faith in Christ.
