Muslims have killed 2,000 Christians in Burkina Faso, Africa
A report by Aid to the Church in Need shows Burkina Faso is one of the top 13 African countries where Christians face severe persecution.
Attacks by al-Qaeda and the Islamic State have killed over 2,000 people and displaced over two million people. Christians face each day, not knowing if they will see the next.
Despite this, a local Christian leader shared, “It is truly striking to note that Christians who had to some extent abandoned religious practice before the crisis are returning to the faith at a time when the terrorists are doing what they can to extinguish Christianity. While the terrorists prevent Christians from gathering in churches, families get together in their homes to rekindle the flame of faith.”
1 Peter 1:6-7 says, “In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”
British official: Stop arresting praying pro-lifers outside abortion mills
Britain’s Home Secretary issued a letter this month, reminding police forces that praying silently outside abortion mills is not a crime.
Suella Braverman called out the police for supporting Critical Race Theory and gender ideology as well.
The conservative’s letter comes as police have arrested multiple Christians for praying silently outside abortion mills.
Isabel Vaughan-Spruce was one of those Christians. She said, “I’m delighted to see the Home Secretary clarify to police that it is not a crime to pray inside your own mind. This is a basic tenet of a free democracy — yet I have been arrested twice for doing no more than that.”
Colossians 4:2 says, “Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.”
Evangelical surge in Spain
In Spain, Evangelical churches are the fastest growing religious minority.
The Catholic-majority nation has 22,947 Catholic places of worship, followed by 4,359 Protestant ones and 1,749 Muslim ones.
Evangelicalism has grown steadily over the last 20 years in Spain, especially with the influx of migrants from Latin America.
However, atheism and agnosticism have also increased in the country.
McCarthy announces Biden impeach inquiry
On Tuesday, U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy announced an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.
The Republican leader said the House investigations “paint a picture of a culture of corruption.” The primary concern is Biden’s family’s business dealings, especially those with his son Hunter Biden.
McCARTHY: “Through our investigations, we have found that President Biden did lie to the American people about his own knowledge of his family’s foreign business dealings. Eye witnesses have testified that the President joined on multiple phone calls and had multiple interactions, dinners, resulted in cars and millions of dollars into his son’s and his son’s business partners.
“We know that bank records show that nearly $20 million in payments were directed to the Biden family members and associates through various shell companies. The Treasury Department alone has more than 150 transactions involving the Biden family, and other business associates, that were flagged as suspicious activity by U.S. banks.”
The inquiry comes ahead of the 2024 presidential elections.
Historically, the House has voted to impeach three presidents: Andrew Johnson in 1868, Bill Clinton in 1998, and Donald Trump in both 2019 and 2021.
Pro-abortion vandals attack pro-life church
Since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade last year on June 24th, hundreds of churches, pro-life groups, and pregnancy centers have faced attacks from abortion activists.
In the latest incident, vandals defaced the Second Baptist Church in Palermo, Maine with pro-abortion slogans over the weekend. The attack comes after the state’s Democrat Governor, Janet Mills, signed a bill that legalizes abortion up to birth.
LifeNews has kept a list of such attacks, numbering over 300 to date.
America’s poverty rate nearly doubled
New data from the U.S. Census Bureau found the poverty rate increased to 12.4% last year, up from 7.8% in 2021.
Child poverty more than doubled, rising from 5.2% in 2021 to 12.4% last year.
It’s the first time the overall poverty rate has increased since 2010.
This comes as median incomes are down, inflation is up, and pandemic-era aid programs are ending.
Francis Scott Key’s Star-Spangled banner anniversary
And finally, yesterday was the anniversary of when Francis Scott Key penned the “Star-Spangled Banner” on September 13, 1814.
The Washington attorney wrote the immortal poem while aboard a truce vessel during the War of 1812. He was visiting the British Navy to negotiate the release of a friend of his. During his mission; however, the British bombarded Fort McHenry in Baltimore, Maryland. Despite the barrage, the American flag continued to fly over the fort, inspiring the poem.
Congress officially made it the U.S. national anthem over a hundred years later. The opening verse is well known. But the subsequent verses are more obscure. Part of the fourth verse reads: “Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation, then conquer we must, for our cause it is just–and this be our motto–‘In God is our trust!’”
