Will Nigerian Christian Teen Leah Sharibu Ever Be Released?
February 19th marked a year of captivity for Leah Sharibu, the 15-year-old Nigerian Christian girl who was kidnapped along with over 100 other schoolgirls by Islamic militants. She alone remains captive for refusing to renounce her faith in Jesus.
The World View spoke to Nathan Johnson of International Christian Concern about any possibility of Leah’s release.
“There’s always a chance she could get released; it’s not likely in my opinion. She’s been gone now for over a year. They’ve made these statements that she is a slave for life. I don’t foresee her getting released anytime soon despite the fact that we’re hoping it will happen. Not only have they said she’s going to be a slave for life, but at this point, they have no real reason to give her up. They didn’t get the ransom that they wanted.”
Johnson said the Leah’s parents are asking people to remember her and other children in her situation in their prayers. The Leah Foundation was started to help those children and spread awareness for Leah’s story. To support them, go to the link in our transcript today at theworldview.com.

In the midst of Syria’s civil war, a new government has been formed in the northeast part of the country based on equal rights and religious freedom.
Bassam Ishak, President of the Syrian Democratic Council, told CBN News, “I don’t think there’s ever been a political system in the Middle East to guarantee religious freedom. . . . We want all Syrians to be equal. We believe they were all created by God equal and to be free.”
Ishak said they found inspiration from Isaiah 19:23-25, “In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria. . . . The Egyptians and Assyrians will worship together. In that day, Israel will be the third, along with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing on the earth. The Lord Almighty will bless them.”

Divorce Rate in First-Time Marriages only 25%
And finally, Harvard-trained researcher and marriage counselor Shaunti Feldhahn told CBN News recently that although many people think that the divorce rate in the U.S. is about 50 percent, the actual rate is much lower.
After years of research, Feldhahn revealed the rate of divorces in first-time marriages is probably between 20 and 25 percent in her new book The Good News About Marriage.
That number is even lower among churchgoers where the rate is under 20 percent.
