Muslim Extremists in Egypt Increase Attacks on Christians

After Muslims bombed two churches in Egypt on Palm Sunday killing 49 believers, The World View talked to David Curry, President of Open Doors USA, about the increase of persecution there.

“In the last several years, you’ve seen a tremendous increase in the violence against Christians. That’s partly because of the Muslim Brotherhood and their political history there and what they did to Christians during their rule. But also since that regime has fallen and the new presidency and the new revolution has happened in Egypt, you see extremist Muslims lashing out at Christians trying to divide the Muslim population there.”

Curry also urged American Christians to pray for their brothers and sisters in Christ in Egypt and elsewhere when they learn about persecution.

“I think we really need to be mindful of persecuted Christians because it’s a biblical mandate. In Revelation, the Bible says, ‘Pray for those people in chains for My name, for My sake.’ And that’s a universal calling to all believers. Now it’s so difficult when you see these new stories every day, a tragedy somewhere, but we have to realize; God’s called us to do this.”

Dr. James Dobson Commends Pence for Protecting His Marriage

Vice President Mike Pence has been attacked for trying to protect his marriage. The media are mocking him for having boundaries, such as not having dinner alone with a woman who is not his wife.

Dr. James Dobson, host of “Family Talk”, came to the vice president’s defense on Monday’s broadcast.

“I have known Mike Pence for 25 years. He is a godly man, he’s a good family man, he’s a good husband and father. He lives by the highest standards of ethics. Frankly, I’m outraged by this criticism of Mike Pence.

“I’ve seen some crazy things, but this has got to be one of the stupidest that I’ve heard. For Mike Pence to say he will not have dinner with a woman when his wife is not there—that’s a good thing man, that’s not a negative!”

Dobson recalled a life-changing pact that Billy Graham and his close associates made which came to be known as The Modesto Manifesto.

“Many, many years ago Billy Graham and five of his men were in the city of Modesto and they got together in a hotel room and they made a pledge to each other that they would live by this very standard. That they would never be with a woman in a room alone; they would never eat with a woman alone; they would never take a plane trip with a woman alone. They would protect their marriages.

“It’s a great idea. I wish every man would do it!”

North Carolina State House Files Bill to Restore Ban on Homosexual Marriage

A bill filed Tuesday by four North Carolina House Republicans would direct the state government to defy the Obergefell U.S. Supreme Court ruling which legalized homosexual marriage nationwide and restore the North Carolina state constitution’s ban on homosexual marriage, reports WTVD.

House Bill 780 is titled “Uphold Historical Marriage Act,” and is sponsored by some of the House’s most conservative legislators including Republican Rep. Larry Pittman of Concord, North Carolina.

The bill states that the 2015 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that legalized homosexual marriage across the country “is null and void in the State of North Carolina.” Indeed, the bill said the ruling “exceeds the authority of the court relative to the decree of Almighty God that ‘a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh’ (Genesis 2:24) and abrogates the clear meaning and understanding of marriage in all societies throughout prior history.”

Members of British Parliament Attack Bible Verse Ads on Buses

Eight years ago, the British read an atheist advertisement on the side of buses in London paid for by the British Humanist Association.

They said, “There’s probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life,” reports Christian.org.uk.

However this Easter, the words of Jesus will be seen by millions of British and tourists thanks to a new evangelistic campaign called “Quote Jesus” featuring red-letter Bible verses emblazoned on the sides of 75 London buses through April 24th.

Among the quotes are: “whoever lives and believes in Me will never die”, “I am the way and the truth and the life”, and “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest”.

Some members of the British Parliament attacked the Christian bus ads as “religiously offensive and morally unhelpful.”

Abortion Mill in Louisiana Closes Down

Pro-life advocates in the state of Louisiana are delighted today to learn that the abortion mill that has killed almost 7,500 babies is closing, reports LifeNews. After returning their outpatient license to the Louisiana Department of Health, a moving trailer was seen on location on Tuesday, April 11th.

There are only three abortion mills left: one in New Orleans, one in Baton Rouge, and one in Shreveport. Pray that they too will shutter their doors.

New Chewing Gum Helps Detect Cancer

Trident, Dentyne, and Bubble Yum help millions of Americans with fresher breath. But now there’s a new gum in town that could help save your life.

Manufactured in Alabama, its name, Volatile Analysis, even sounds serious. Its mission? To determine whether a person has cancer, reports Fox News.

The gum absorbs what are known as “volatiles” in a person’s saliva as they chew it, then the chewed gum is analyzed to determine whether it contains certain chemicals produced in the body when a person has cancer.

Indeed, the volatile organic compounds produced in the body are unique to each type of cancer, thus enabling doctors the ability to determine which type of cancer is present in the patient.

Planned Parenthood Declares Hillary Clinton “Champion of the Century”

Donald Trump labeled her Crooked Hillary, but Planned Parenthood calls Hillary Clinton the “Champion of the Century” and will hand her the morbid award as the organization celebrates their centennial anniversary.

While Clinton was secretary of state, Planned Parenthood gave her its highest honor, the Margaret Sanger Award, named after its founder Margaret Sanger who wrote, “The most merciful thing that the large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it.” That disturbing quote comes from chapter 6 of her book Woman and the New Race entitled “The Wickedness of Creating Large Families.”

China Agrees to Work with U.S. on Dealing with North Korean Nuclear Threat

Chinese President Xi Jinping told President Donald Trump in a phone call yesterday that Beijing is willing to work with Washington on ending North Korea’s nuclear weapons program, but wants to do so through peaceful means, reports Fox News.

Trump tweeted, “Had a very good call last night with the President of China concerning the menace of North Korea.”

Jinping told Trump that China insists on peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula in the wake of the deployment of the USS Carl Vinson to the area and the conducting of the biggest-ever U.S.-South Korea military drills.

The call came after Trump warned in a pair of tweets Tuesday that North Korea “is looking for trouble” and vowed to get Kim Jong-Un’s regime under control with or without China’s help.

Egyptian Police Officer Killed While Guarding a Church from Suicide Bomber

Egyptians have been paying their respects to a female police officer who was killed when she stopped an Islamic extremist suicide bomber from entering a Coptic church in Alexandria on Sunday, reports Christian Today.

At least 44 people died in two bombings targeting Egypt’s Christian minority on Palm Sunday, the first at St George’s Church in Tanta, followed by the explosion during Mass at Alexandria’s Saint Mark’s Cathedral.

Nagwa Abdel-Aleem, 55, was guarding the entrance to the church when the suicide bomber attempted to pass her. Equally tragic, one of her two sons, also a police officer, also died in the attack.

Pence Says Release of Pastor Imprisoned in Turkey Is a Top Priority

On the heels of Pastor Andrew Brunson’s wife personal meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson concerning the wrongful imprisonment of her husband, the ACLJ reports that she received a personal letter from Vice President Mike Pence assuring that “Andrew’s case remains a top priority of the U.S. government….”

In the letter, Vice President Pence wrote, “I can assure you both that the State Department and this White House, under President Trump’s leadership, consider Andrew’s release and reunification with you and your three children extremely important.”

After 23 years of peacefully and faithfully serving the people of Turkey with no incident, Pastor Brunson languishes in a Turkish prison, falsely charged with national security related charges – a common charge leveled to persecute Christians.

Please join me and sign the ACLJ petition demanding Pastor Andrew Brunson’s release from a Turkish prison.

Sudanese Court Clears the Way for Mass Demolition of Churches

For years the Sudanese Christian church has encountered church demolitions, property confiscations, and unjust imprisonments at the hands of Sudanese authorities, reports the American Center for Law and Justice.

But now things have gotten even worse.

The Khartoum, Sudan court dismissed a case that would have prohibited the Sudanese government from demolishing at least 25 churches in that area. The Muslims claim that  the churches were built on land zoned for other use. After demolishing the churches, the evildoers plan to sell the land to the highest bidder.

The government of Sudan, led by President Omar Hassan al-Bashir, continues to engage in systematic, ongoing, and egregious violations of freedom of religion or belief. These violations are the result of President Bashir’s policies of Islamization and Arabization.

New Hungarian Law Leads to Mistreatment of Refugees

A new Hungarian law which went into effect on March 28 requires all asylum seekers to be contained in a Serbian-Hungarian border container camp, reports Christian Today.

It has led to abuses of power as refugees are deported, including setting dogs on them, depriving them of warm clothes and not helping them deal with cash shortages and broken mobile phones.

Four hundred leading members of Catholic and Protestant Churches in Hungary are backing an online petition calling for church leaders to follow the example of Jesus Christ and serve the gospel rather than the state in the way they respond to the refugee crisis.

The open letter which they signed expresses concern that the refugees are being treated “as potential Muslim terrorists, while most are just fleeing the violent actions of Islamic extremist organizations.”

New Jersey Governor Tries to Get Trump Administration Involved in Airline Case

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is fit to be tied over United Airlines’ decision to forcibly remove a passenger from a Chicago flight on Sunday to make room for a United employee, slamming the airline’s attitude as “awful” and calling on the Trump administration to act, reports Fox News.

Despite a belated apology from United CEO Oscar Munoz, Christie told “Fox & Friends” that he send a letter to Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao indicating that his state is looking into action to prevent what he called the “abusive practice” of overbooking, and requested that the Trump administration suspend airlines’ ability to overbook.

14 Percent of American Christians Leave Their Churches After Trump Election

Some 14 percent of Christians abandoned their churches after the election of Donald Trump, according to research by The Washington Post showing that a number of people who went to a church in September last year had left it by mid-November.

The Post surveyed 957 people before and after the 2016 presidential election, in late September and mid-November. Of those who said they had attended a house of worship in September, 14 percent reported that they had left that particular church by mid-November. They believe that American politics has become divisive.

Trump secured the support of 81 per cent of white evangelicals in the 2016 election.

Dr. James Dobson Warns People to Protect Their Marriage

Dr. James Dobson warned married people away from time alone with members of the opposite sex outside of the marriage.

“Flirtation in an office is a dangerous thing. I’ve talked about Jerry Jenkins and his book Hedges where he talked about the importance of building a wall, a hedge around your marriage. You do that and you’re likely for it to last a lifetime.”

Chick-Fil-A Ranks as Most Popular Restaurant for Teens

Could you name the most popular fast food restaurant for teens? Would you be surprised to learn it’s Chick-Fil-A?

According to a survey conducted by Piper Jaffray and reported by Business Insider, this news was especially noteworthy because Chick-Fil-A  is known for its conservative Christians values and beat out Starbucks, the coffee chain known for its liberal mindset.

Starbucks had been the number one restaurant for teens for the last seven years. It is now in second place, followed by Chipotle, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Panera Bread.

And that’s the World View in Five Minutes.
