Pakistani authorities bulldozed church and 200 homes of Christians

Officials in Pakistan, the eighth worst country in the world for Christians, bulldozed the homes and church building of 200 Christians living in the capital of Islamabad last month.

The Christians received no warning beforehand and have not been compensated or given another place to live after losing everything. Thankfully, there were no fatalities or injuries from the demolition.

The home of former counselor Sabra Saeed Athwal was also demolished. She said, “This injustice has happened as Christians in Pakistan, and around the world, prepare to celebrate Christmas in just a few weeks.”

Athwal warned other Christian communities in Pakistan that they may face similar demolitions.

Less than 50% of United Kingdom identifies as Christian

The U.K.’s Office for National Statistics released their 2021 census data on Tuesday. And for the first time in over 200 years, less than half of the population identified as Christian.

In 2021, 46.2% of people in England and Wales described themselves as Christian, down from 59.3% a decade earlier.

Meanwhile, the proportion of people who said they had no religion increased from 25% to 37%.

Psalm 14:1 says, “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’ They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds; there is none who does good.”

European Court delivers pro-life victory

The European Court of Humans Rights threw out a case against Poland’s anti-abortion laws in a big defeat for the abortion lobby.

A Polish woman sued the country because she couldn’t get an abortion. In 2014, a doctor had refused, on the basis of conscience, to kill the unborn baby who had a disability.

Dr. Bogdan Chazan has faced public humiliation for years for his decision.

In 2020, Chazan said, “I hope my example will encourage doctors to protect the life of unborn children, to reveal their opinions in this matter, and to use the conscience clause with more confidence.”

Proverbs 24:11 says, “Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter.”

Wyoming’s largest homeless shelter not forced to hire a non-Christian

A U.S. Christian nonprofit reached a settlement with state and federal officials last week to respect the group’s religious freedom.

Wyoming Rescue Mission, the state’s largest homeless shelter, had previously refused to hire a self-proclaimed non-Christian. The applicant then filed a discrimination charge precipitating a 16-month investigation by government officials into the rescue mission.

A lawsuit filed by Alliance Defending Freedom, on behalf of the mission, brought the settlement, reports the Christian Post.

ADF Legal Counsel Jacob Reed said, “We’re pleased to favorably settle this case for the rescue mission so it can continue its critical work of serving some of Casper’s most vulnerable citizens and spreading the Gospel.”

What the GOP-led House plans to investigate

Republicans now have a majority in the U.S. House of Representatives.

On Sunday, GOP Rep. James Comer of Kentucky told NBC’s “Meet the Press the House Oversight Committee has 40 to 50 issues on its agenda for investigation.

COMER: “We believe that there have been hundreds of billions, if not trillions, of dollars wasted over the past three years. So, that spans two administrations in the name of COVID. We want to have hearings on that. We want to try to determine what happened with the fraudulent unemployment insurance funds, the fraudulent PPP loan funds, some of this money that’s being spent for state and local governments in the COVID stimulus monies. These are things that are going to be priorities for us as a committee. Waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement — that’s going to be the goal of the House Oversight Committee.”

Comer has said other issues to investigate include President Joe Biden’s son Hunter, the Biden family’s finances, and the situation at the border with Mexico.

Twitter stops censorship of COVID info and greenlights suspended accounts

Under Elon Musk’s new leadership at Twitter, the social media company will not be enforcing its so-called “COVID-19 misleading information policy.”

This comes after Musk announced a general amnesty for suspended accounts. He posted a public poll last week asking if people thought suspended accounts should be reinstated if they have not broken the law or engaged in egregious spam. Seventy-two percent of respondents supported the idea.

Musk said the amnesty begins this week.

Companies eliminating college degree requirements for higher paying jobs

And finally, the Wall Street Journal reports companies are eliminating college degree requirements for higher paying jobs in response to tight labor markets.

For example, Google, Delta Airlines, and IBM are focusing on skills and experience and less on degree requirements for certain positions.

Currently, 41% of job postings require at least a four-year college degree, up from a 34% low in 2020, but still down from pre-pandemic levels of 46%.
