Assassination attempt on Venezuelan president?

Questions have been raised about whether the so-called “drone attack” against the president of Venezuela was faked, as firefighters say the incident was actually a gas tank explosion, reports The Daily Mail.

Nicolas Maduro started rounding up his political opponents after blaming them for what he called an assassination attempt on Saturday.

Maduro had been addressing a military parade in Caracas on live TV, when he suddenly halted and looked to the sky after hearing an explosion.

He and his wife  were swamped with aides carrying bulletproof shields, but both escaped uninjured.

Indonesian Christian Widow Rejected by Muslim Adult Children

A 68-year-old Christian woman named Nurul in Indonesia remains joyful despite her poverty and being abandoned by her Muslim adult children due to her faith in Jesus Christ, reports Christian Aid Mission.

Following the recent death of her husband, her children refused to allow her to live with them.  So, today, Nurul is living at a Christian home for widows and orphans run by Indonesian missionaries.

Amelia, another widow who led her to Christ, told Nurul “I am very happy because Someone cares for me, even though I have no kids to take care of me. I am happy because I don’t care about the body; I just care that my soul will be saved.”

Psalm 16:5-6 says, “You, Lord, are all I have, and You give me all I need; my future is in Your hands. How wonderful are Your gifts to me; how good they are!”

African Disabled Kids Abandoned Outside by Parents

With disabled children being abandoned and left to be eaten by wild animals by their own parents in Kenya, Africa, a Christian ministry has taken them under its care, reports the Augusta Review.

Margaret Njuguna of En-Gedi, a ministry partner of Set Free Ministries, is committed to “rescuing children who are abused, neglected, isolated, and some of these children would be left in the bush so that they either die of natural causes or they‘re eaten by wild animals. Others will be tethered behind their parents‘ houses. They don‘t allow them to be part of the family.”

Many African parents fear disabled children might be bad omens.

The missionary said that John 10:16 inspires her to care for such children which says, “I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to My voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.”

Judge to Trump: Restore Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals

In a 25-page opinion, Washington, DC-based District Judge John Bates ruled on Friday that the Trump administration must fully restore Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, saying the government’s rationale for dropping it is inadequate.

President Trump announced plans to shutter the program, which protects young illegals who came to the U.S. as children from deportation, in September 2017.

Communist Chinese Spy Infiltrated U.S. Senator’s Office

A mole for communist China managed to stay by Democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein’s side for nearly 20 years, reports KPIX 5 in San Francisco.

The Bay Area is a hotbed for Russian and Chinese espionage. Late last year, the feds shut down the Russian consulate in San Francisco.

On Wednesday, the San Francisco Chronicle revealed that the Chinese spy was Feinstein’s driver who also served as a gofer in her Bay Area office and was a liaison to the Asian-American community.

Record number of Homosexuals/Transgenders Seek Political Office

Sharice Davids, a leading Democrat and a lesbian in a Kansas City, Kansas primary election on Tuesday, is among more than 400 homosexual or transgender candidates running for office this year — a record number, reports the New York Times.

Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

U.S. Senator Slams America

Democratic New Jersey Senator Cory Booker bashed America during the liberal Netroots Nation conference on Friday.

“I’m a big believer that if America, if this country hasn’t broken your heart, then you don’t love her enough.  Because there’s things that are savagely wrong in this country. There’s a normalcy of injustice that we’ve accepted.

“And I tell you, Newark has gifted me a wisdom that can only come from moons, a sense of purpose that can only come from shared pain. It’s a city that at times where my heart has been broken, but I’ve learned that the heart is this interesting organ that, it’s the only one that really works even if it’s gotten broken.”

He never made it clear though how America had broken his heart.

A modernized theatrical production of The Diary of Anne Frank in Los Angeles will re-imagine the Jewish Frank family hiding from Nazis with Latino immigrants hiding from Immigration, Customs, and Enforcement officials, its directors have revealed.

Big Meteor Crashes near U.S. Air Force Base

The US Air Force failed to report a major meteor explosion near a military base in Greenland earlier this summer, leading to concern and confusion, reports The Independent.

The explosion contained 2.1 kilotons of force and occurred just above an early-warning radar at the U.S. Thule Air Force base in June.

NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory showed an object travelling nearly 15 miles per second on July 25th around midnight.

Job 26:7-14 declares, “God stretches the northern sky over empty space and hangs the earth on nothing. He wraps the rain in His thick clouds, and the clouds don’t burst with the weight. He covers the face of the moon, shrouding it with His clouds. … The foundations of heaven tremble; they shudder at His rebuke. By His power the sea grew calm. … These are just the beginning of all that He does, merely a whisper of His power. Who, then, can comprehend the thunder of His power?”

Christian Testimony from Aeromexico Crash

Pastor Ramin Parsa of Los Angeles, an ex-Muslim who became a Christian, captured footage on his cell phone from inside the cabin of an Aeromexico flight that crashed shortly after takeoff could be heard desperately crying out to Jesus just as the plane impacted the ground, reports NBC News.

You can hear the chaos inside the cabin including a crying baby and you’ll hear Pastor Parsa pray “in Jesus’ name.”

(Audio from crash followed by soundbite from Parsa)

Pastor Ramin Parsa: “When he hit the ground, the engine exploded, it started a fire, he went off the rail, people were screaming and I was praying.”

Following the ordeal, he wrote on Twitter, “People were screaming, and I was praying – I was praying de nombre Jesus, so Jesus saved our lives. Jesus Christ is alive. He saved me from a plane crash.”

Miraculously, all 99 passengers and four crew members survived last Tuesday’s crash of Flight 2431, en route from Durango, Mexico.

Isaiah 42:12 says, “Let them give glory to the LORD and declare His praise in the coastlands.”

15-Year-Old Montana Listener: We Listen to The World View During Breakfast

Jac, the 15-year-old homeschooler from Kalispell, Montana, is the oldest of seven children, the youngest of whom is 10 months. She wrote me at Adam@TheWorldView.com and said, “We have been listening to The World View for about six months now and we LOVE it! It has become part of our breakfast time around the table each morning.

“Your newscast is a welcome change from the emotionally-charged, often misleading, headlines of today. We are grateful to hear everything from a Christian worldview with related scripture throughout the broadcast. The special reports are a welcomed bonus.

“My mother appreciates the fact that all of her children become instantly silent and stay silent while your broadcast is playing. She is wondering if you would be able to come out with The World View in 5 Hours?

“My siblings and I enjoy it so much. We are always disappointed when we get to the breakfast table and realize it’s Saturday and there is no World View. Thank you so much for all you do, please continue. It is greatly appreciated!”

Turkey to America: How Dare You Sanction Our Officials!

The Turkish government has announced that it will respond “without delay” to fresh sanctions brought against two of its officials by the United States Treasury over the continued imprisonment of American pastor Andrew Brunson.

In a short statement, the Turkish foreign ministry declared that it “strongly protests” the sanctions against the Turkish Justice Minister and Interior Minister, reports the Associated Press.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said that Pastor Brunson’s “unjust detention and continued prosecution by Turkish officials is simply unacceptable. President Trump has made it abundantly clear that the United States expects Turkey to release him immediately.”

The Mixed Messages of North Korea

Amid a tentative warming of relations since June, North Korea appears to have begun dismantling part of a key rocket launch site in the north-west, in compliance with a promise by the dictator, Kim Jong Un, to destroy an engine test site, reports the BBC.

And at the end of July, North Korea returned to the US remains believed to be of 55 US troops killed during the Korean War, as agreed at the summit.

But reports last month based on US intelligence leaks suggest Pyongyang is still upgrading its uranium enrichment sites.

The reports are seen as undermining the spirit of the summit and casting doubt on the North’s sincerity.

Then last week, unnamed US officials said that Pyongyang appeared to be building new ballistic missiles after spy satellites spotted continuing activity at one site.

Trump re-thinks asylum for Christian Iranians

The United States Department of Homeland Security has reopened the asylum applications of dozens of Christian refugees who were denied resettlement earlier this year, reports The Christian Post.

In compliance with a federal court order from last month, the agency is re-evaluating the cases of 87 religious minorities who fled their homes in Iran to travel to Vienna, Austria on the invitation from the U.S. government to seek asylum through the U.S. Lautenberg-Spencer refugee resettlement program.

While the Obama administration resettled close to 85,000 refugees in its final full fiscal year (2016), the Trump administration is on pace to settle about 22,000 in its first full fiscal year.

Black Pastors Meet with and Pray for Trump

President Donald Trump met with a group of about 20 black pastors and Christian leaders at the White House last Wednesday, reports The Christian Post.

Bishop Harry Jackson of Hope Christian Church in Beltsville, Maryland, Martin Luther King Jr.’s niece Alveda King, prominent Trump supporter and Ohio pastor Darrell Scott, and Alabama Pastor Kyle Searcy of the multi-racial Fresh Anointing House of Worship in Montgomery, were among the many others who attended.

The full list of participants can be found here.

Pastor John Gray of Redemption Church in Greenville, South Carolina, said, “God, we thank you for an opportunity to speak about the hearts of those who sometimes cannot fight for themselves. Thank you for this moment to be able to share our hearts with the president and his administration. Dr. King said we cannot influence a table that we are not seated at. And so we pray that this conversation will be fruitful, and productive, and honoring of the best traditions of this nation.”

“We further pray that you will continue to give wisdom and insight to our president and his leadership team to be what our nation needs, to build this country from the inside out, that we will continue to be a beacon of hope and light around this world. Bless his family, bless his health, and everything that he puts his hands to do. This is our prayer. And bless our time together.”

Bishop Jackson cited the fact that “unemployment in the black community is at an all-time record low” and that he’s grateful that Trump has fought hard to include “Opportunity Zones” in the new tax bill to incentivize much-needed investments into distressed urban communities.

The African-American leaders have been criticized for their decision to meet with Trump. Prominent African-American pastor Jamal Bryant posted a video to his social media page claiming that the meeting was merely a “photo op.”

“[He] doesn’t not know that I have been working on this with this group for a long time, nearly a year and a half,” Jackson responded. “This is not taking a picture. This is something that milestones are being talked about.”

60 Minutes Executive Producer in Hot Water

When 60 Minutes executive producer Jeff Fager returns to the office Monday, he will face a CBS newsroom reeling from a hard-hitting against both CBC CEO Les Moonves as well as a “toxic culture,” as reported by Ronan Farrow at The New Yorker.

Fager, 63, is accused of ignoring and enabling bad behavior by two high-ranking male producers at 60 Minutes. Anonymous former employees who spoke to Farrow also accuse Fager of misconduct.

Six former employees say that Fager “while inebriated at company parties, would touch employees in ways that made them uncomfortable.”

Pro-life Congressmen Receive Death Threats

Police arrested a New York man last Wednesday for allegedly leaving threatening voicemail messages for U.S. Congressmen Steve Scalise of Louisiana and Cathy McMorris Rodgers of Washington state, Fox News reports.

According to Townhall, the voicemail left for Scalise threatened his children in a vague reference to the Trump administration’s immigration policies.

It reportedly said: “Hey listen, this message is for you and the people that sent you there. You are taking ours, we are taking yours. Anytime, anywhere. We know where they are. We are not going to feed them sandwiches, we are going to feed them lead. Make no mistake you will pay. Ojo por ojo, diente por diente (Spanish for ‘an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth’). That is our law and we are the majority. Have a good day.”

In a statement, a spokesperson for Scalise said, “there is absolutely no place in our political discourse for violent threats.”

The latest news indicates an alarming pattern of threats and harassment against pro-life political leaders.

Earlier last week, leading pro-life Congressman Chris Smith of New Jersey also received a death threat allegedly from a Democrat in his state. In June, a Florida man who volunteers at Planned Parenthood was arrested after he allegedly threatened to kill pro-life U.S. Rep. Brian Mast’s children.

Earlier in 2017, a Texas state lawmaker Tony Tinderholt and his family also were put under state protection after he received multiple death threats related to a bill he introduced to ban abortions. A Missouri pro-life lawmaker also received a death threat while he led an investigation into the abortion giant Planned Parenthood in 2015.

CNN Claims Jim Acosta’s Life in Jeopardy at Trump Rally

CNN political analyst April Ryan believes CNN reporter Jim Acosta’s life was in danger at President Donald Trump’s Tuesday rally in Tampa, Florida, reports Breitbart.com.

Acosta, who was heckled before Trump appeared on stage, has said he did not feel like he was in America and expressed that he is “very worried that the hostility whipped up by Trump and some in conservative media will result in somebody getting hurt.”

Ryan told CNN host Don Lemon “That’s a serious moment and a serious place. And Jim Acosta’s life, in my opinion, was in jeopardy that night.”

Small Businesses Cannot Find Applicants to Hire

A record percentage of small firms have unfilled jobs, the July jobs report released Thursday by the National Federation of Independent Businesses shows, reports CNS News.com.

“Twenty-three percent of owners cited the difficulty of finding qualified workers as their Single Most Important Business. And 37 percent of all owners reported job openings they could not fill in the current period.

July survey respondents are based on a random sample of 1,718 of NFIB’s 10,000 members through July 30, 2018.

Emergency: 911 Dispatchers Needed ASAP

Cities across the U.S. are struggling to find 911 dispatchers as a historically tight labor market makes it harder to fill a job that was already a tough sell, reports the Wall Street Journal.

Dispatchers are a linchpin of the nation’s emergency-response infrastructure. Their responses to 911 calls directly impact how quickly police, firefighters and other first responders are sent to help and whether they go to the right place.

They are also hard to hire, since the job can require workers to make snap judgments on life-or-death situations, often based on incomplete information, for about what they could make working as a manager at a retail store.

With the U.S. jobless rate currently at 3.9%, just above the 18-year low of 3.8% it reached in May, a daunting situation for emergency call centers has turned urgent.

The Cowlitz County 911 Center in Washington is trying to hire six new dispatchers, said its director, Deanna Wells. In the meantime, the center’s 16 current dispatchers are working more than 200 hours of overtime a month.

Emergency call-center jobs can be emotionally taxing. Callers are often in distress and sometimes still in the throes of a traumatic event. They can cry, yell at or grow frustrated with 911 center employees trying to gather information to help them dispatch first responders.

A 911 center operator may hear gunshots, callers being wounded or killed while they are on the phone, or be the first person to speak with someone who has found a deceased loved one. Some centers offer counseling with local religious leaders or trained therapists, but not all have those services.

The Twin Plagues of South Florida

South Florida looks like it’s been hit by a series of plagues not unlike the Egyptians during the days of Moses.

First came the red tide, a flotilla of microorganisms that dyed the sea rust and eventually stretched out along 100 miles of the Gulf Coast. Oxygen-starved fish, eels, dolphins and turtles littered beaches, in numbers too vast to count, reports The Miami Herald.

Then, plague #2 was a green film of cyanobacteria appeared spilled over into rivers and canals, which carried the toxic green sludge east to the Atlantic Ocean and west to the Gulf of Mexico.

Already distressed Floridians gagged on the noxious odor, and more than a dozen people reportedly went to local emergency rooms after coming into contact with the contaminated water.

Some wept as beloved manatees expired, bloated and tinted a ghastly green.

One tourist warned on TripAdvisor: “Ground Zero — Polluted, dirty, unhealthy beach — STAY AWAY!!!”
