Terrorists in Nigeria Force Children into Suicide Bombings
On Monday, Nigerian police reported that a 10-year-old Nigerian boy was forced by Muslim terrorists to wear a suicide bomb which killed him and injured his 8-year-old brother.
The World View spoke to Pastor Aniekan Ekpo in Nigeria and asked him if these attacks on innocent Nigerians are still frequent. He said that things seem to have gotten worse since the election of Muslim President Muhammadu Buhari.
“When the other government came down last year, the Boko Haram think that their brother has now taken over. In fact some of the rumors we hear is that the present government is supporting Boko Haram.”
Pastor Ekpo said the ongoing persecution and chaos has given him the opportunity to challenge the body of Christ to have a strong faith in God.
“Now I always share to my people what happens if you are like your brothers in the North. That if we are worshipping and Boko Haram comes and says, ‘Deny Christ or we kill you.’ What would it be? So that challenges them to make sure that their faith is not just a sentimental thing.”
To learn more about how God is using the Christians there in Nigeria to preach the gospel, you can visit Pastor Ekpo’s website at www.ReformedTabernacle.org.
Prime Minister of Israel Says Evangelicals are Israel’s Best Friends
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the annual conference of Christians United for Israel on Monday that Christian evangelicals were Israel’s best friends in the world.
In addition, Vice President Mike Pence told the same audience that God had a hand in creating the state of Israel and promised that Trump’s administration would make good on its promise to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
President Trump Calls to Repeal ObamaCare and Replace It Later
After the Republicans failed to muster a majority of votes in the Senate to repeal and replace ObamaCare, President Donald Trump is now urging the GOP to repeal ObamaCare and replace it later.
However, built into the repeal would be a two-year delay before it was actually repealed. Presumably, an actual repeal in real time might be a political death wish.
Florida Says Students Are Free to Express Their Religion in School
Starting this fall, Florida public school students will be officially free to refer to religion in their schoolwork, pray without interference, and wear religious symbols without fear of punishment thanks to a new religious liberties law, reports The Christian Post.
The law passed in response to an incident three years ago at a Broward County, Florida elementary school, where a teacher told a student he couldn’t read his Bible during free reading time and forced the child to put the Bible away.
Evolutionary Biologist Says There’s No Difference Between Abortion and Euthanasia
Jerry Coyne, an evolutionary biologist, dropped a figurative bomb in his blog.
He wrote, “If you are allowed to abort a fetus that has a severe genetic defect, microcephaly, spina bifida, or so on, then why aren’t you able to euthanize that same fetus just after it’s born? I see no substantive difference that would make the former act moral and the latter immoral.”
Jeremiah 1:5 says, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart.”
Benham Brothers Say They Almost Agreed to Keep Quiet
David and Jason Benham, the conservative Christian real estate twin entrepreneurs, almost promised HGTV that they would keep quiet about their Christian beliefs on political issues in an attempt to save their now-canceled reality television show, reports The Christian Post.
Jason said, “We discovered that boldness apart from brokenness makes a bully. We got down and repented of our man-pleasing spirit. God had to break us first. We had no idea that He was putting us in a position where we had to be bold for a watching world. … What He had to do was break us and show us that the secret to courage is first recognizing your inner coward and then allowing the Holy Spirit to unleash your inner lion.”
And David Benham said that pastors and politicians today who are afraid to take a stance on hot-button political issues are forgetting the words of Matthew 5:11: “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely accuse you.”
101-Year-Old Woman Breaks World Record for 100-Meter Dash
101-year-old Julia “Hurricane” Hawkins just broke a world record in the 100-meter dash on Saturday in Birmingham, Alabama.
She told The Washington Post last month, “I’m always outside and the phone always rings, and I come running in. That’s how I knew I could run.”
Hundreds of Thousands of People Still Displaced in Iraq
Despite the fact that Mosul, Iraq has been recaptured from the Islamic State, close to 700,000 people are still displaced, with nearly half living in 19 emergency camps, reports Christian Today.
A Christian charity named Tearfund is working in the region to offer immediate humanitarian assistance, including providing safe water, cash grants, and psychosocial support to help the Christian Iranians grapple with their trauma.
President Trump Makes Little Progress in Undoing Obama’s Legacy
Donald Trump was focused like a laser beam at undoing Obama’s legacy. After six months, he hasn’t made much progress.
Not only did ObamaCare survive another Republican repeal effort, but Trump was forced to certify that Iran continues to comply with Obama’s nuclear deal.
That’s one reason why presidents typically prefer to push their own agendas, reports the L.A. Times.
Presidents Eisenhower and Nixon did not, for example, undo Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal or Lyndon B. Johnson’s Great Society programs.
While President Reagan moved quickly to repeal Jimmy Carter’s regulations on oil and natural gas production, his administration’s chief focus was on its own plans for tax cuts and a military buildup.
White House Officials Call Attention to the Clintons’ Ties with Russia
The Russian lawyer who landed a meeting with Donald Trump Jr. during last year’s presidential campaign with the promise of dirt on Hillary Clinton had one big thing in common with the Democratic presidential candidate: Both had opposed Russia sanctions targeting human-rights abusers, reports Fox News.
Further, former Secretary of State Clinton’s initial opposition coincided with a $500,000 speech her husband gave in Moscow – a link her 2016 campaign fought to downplay in the press, according to WikiLeaks-released documents.
Trump White House officials now are trying to draw attention to that speech and the Clintons’ ties to Russia in a bid to counter criticism over Trump Jr.’s now-infamous meeting.
Listen to this smoking gun from a Clinton campaign staffer in a May 2015 email.
“With the help of the research team, we killed a Bloomberg story trying to link [Hillary’s] opposition to the Magnitsky bill [to] a $500,000 speech that [President Clinton] gave in Moscow.”
The Magnitsky bill imposed sanctions on Russians designated as human-rights abusers and eventually became law in 2012.
New Pro-Transgender Army Policy Makes Women Shower with Men
The Army is now insisting that women shower with men.
The bizarre, new pro-transgender policy essentially forces women to shower with individuals who claim to be female but who are still biologically male.
Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-MS), chairwoman of a House Armed Services Subcommittee, has called the Obama-era transgender military policy “ill-conceived” according to Christian Headlines.
David Daleiden Charged with Contempt of Court
Pro-life undercover videographer David Daleiden was leveled with a contempt of court charge by Judge William Orrick in California Monday after Daleiden released video footage of abortion-industry executives bragging about the money they made on the sale of baby body parts at a National Abortion Federation event, reports WorldNetDaily.
Daleiden’s defenders explained the conversations were in public areas where any number of passersby could have heard the discussions. They argued that federal suppression of the videos’ contents, would deprive Daleiden of a fair trial and fatally undermine the entire criminal prosecution.
Orrick, who directed a community center that advocated for abortion-industry giant Planned Parenthood, issued the ruling despite an apparent conflict of interest.
And that’s the World View in Five Minutes.
What kind of worldview do your children get? The vast majority of teens from Christian families are abandoning a biblical worldview, according to the Barna Group. Sadly, many parents do not realize that the curriculum they have chosen for their children actually conveys the wrong worldview of history, science, life’s purpose, and truth. Pass on the faith to your children with a distinctively Christian education.
