Communist Chinese censor Christianity in children’s classics

In an effort to bring Christianity further under government control, Communist Chinese authorities have erased the words “Bible,” “God” and “Christ” from classic children’s stories, reports the Christian Post.

China’s Ministry of Education recently introduced a new school textbook to help fifth-grade students “understand other cultures”. Included in the textbook are four popular stories by foreign writers, including Robinson Crusoe, The Little Match Girl, and Vanka. However, each story is censored to remove any religious reference.

For example, in Daniel Defoe’s 18th century classic novel, castaway Robinson Crusoe discovers three Bibles inside a shipwreck, which he then uses as his moral compass while stranded on the island. However, the Chinese version eliminates the word “Bible,” instead noting that Crusoe happened upon “a few books.”

Cathedral allows carnival ride to be erected inside sanctuary

The decision to install a helter-skelter carnival ride inside the Norwich Cathedral in England to attract visitors and allow congregants to get a better look at the church’s artwork was a major “mistake,” says Queen Elizabeth’s former chaplain Gavin Ashenden, reports the Christian Post.

The 55-foot tall fairground ride took several days to construct inside the cathedral. (You can watch a video of the construction here.)

The Rev. Andy Bryant at the cathedral said that installing the helter-skelter ride in the church was “part of the cathedral’s mission to share the story of the Bible” and was a “creative and innovative way to do that.”

Some say, though, a cathedral sanctuary is no place for a fairground carnival ride and it diminishes a sacred space.

Exodus 3:2-5 is instructive. “Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. God called to him from within the bush, ‘Moses! Moses!’ And Moses said, ‘Here I am.’ ‘Do not come any closer,’ God said. ‘Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.’”

Democratic Congressman conducts Trump impeachment inquiry

Democratic Rep. Jerrold Nadler of New York told CNN’s Erin Burnett on Thursday that the House Judiciary Committee is conducting an impeachment inquiry into President Trump, reports WorldNetDaily.com.

NADLER: “We are investigating the evidence. We’re going into court to get witnesses, all with a view to deciding and recommending to the House whether to impeach the president.”

Joe Biden sticks foot in mouth — again

Gaffe-prone presidential hopeful Joe Biden put his foot in his mouth during an Iowa campaign stop on Thursday when he said this to a group of predominately Asian and Hispanic voters, reports the New York Post.

BIDEN: “We have this notion that somehow if you’re poor, you cannot do it, Poor kids are just as bright, just as talented, as white kids.”

On Monday, the befuddled 76-year-old bungled the locations of the El Paso and Dayton mass shootings when he expressed sympathy for the “tragic events in Houston today and also in Michigan the day before.”

Gun nut walks in Walmart with assault weapon

A gun nut wearing body armor and camouflage fatigues filmed himself walking into a Springfield, Missouri Walmart carrying an assault weapon and 100 rounds, reports TheSun.com.

The man, described as white and aged in his twenties, was detained by an off-duty firefighter who held the suspect at gunpoint.

In a Facebook post from February, on a page police believe belongs to Dmitriy Andreychenko, he allegedly wrote “It’s official. I hate Walmart. Apparently they won’t sell Rifle and shotgun ammo if you’re under 21.  However, I can walk into the store with a loaded .40 and nobody says anything. What a joke.”

Modesto California nixes Straight Pride rally

Modesto, California has denied a request by the National Straight Pride Coalition to hold a Straight Pride rally at Graceada Park on August 24th.

Organizer Don Grundmann had estimated 500 people would attend.

Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.”

Roe v. Wade: The Untold Story movie needs help

The movie called “Roe v. Wade: The Untold Story” which is being overseen by notable pro-life activist Alveda King, the niece of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., has finished production, reports the Christian Post.

Starring actors Jon Voight and Stacey Dash, the film has had some challenges. The co-director, Nick Loeb, told The Hollywood Reporter, they had to replace three local actors, including one who was to play Norma McCorvey, after they discovered that it was a pro-life film.

Now, they need help to fund the media awareness campaign to fill theater seats.  Toward the $1 million budget, they have already raised $363,000.  You can make a donation through a link in our transcript today at www.TheWorldview.com.

El Paso, Texas churches help the victims of Walmart massacre

And finally, churches in the El Paso, Texas area are giving prayers, counseling, and blood to help the victims of the recent mass shooting that has so far resulted in 22 deaths, reports the Christian Post.

Pastor J.C. Rico of Immanuel Church in El Paso, said that his congregation is providing licensed counselors at no cost to anyone affected by the tragedy who needs them.

Rico felt that churches needed to “come together” despite having their own “way of doing church” in order to “to share the gospel of Christ.”

He said, “Love will bind and hold us together. There is no greater love than the one our Father in Heaven gives us. This tragedy was about hate, racism, ignorance and fear from a young man.”

Millionaire pedophile suspect Jeff Epstein dead in prison

Jeffrey Epstein, the 66-year-old millionaire pedophile suspect, died in an apparent suicide while in federal custody in Manhattan early Saturday, a stunning end that both infuriated and baffled his victims, and the federal officials responsible for his safety, reports New York Post.

He was found unresponsive in his single-inmate cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center at about 6:30 a.m. and was dead on arrival at nearby New York-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital.

Epstein had inexplicably been taken off suicide watch despite an incident three weeks ago when he was found sprawled on the floor of his cell, nearly unconscious, and with injuries to his neck.

The financier had faced up to 45 years in prison on charges of sex-trafficking dozens of teenage accusers.  Prosecutors said that between 2002 and 2005, he ran a sex-trafficking ring in which he abused dozens of underage girls in his Manhattan mansion and his waterfront compound in Palm Beach, Florida

Attorney General William Barr said he was “appalled” by the apparent suicide at the ultra-secure lockup, which has held some of the world’s worst terrorists and drug lords. Suicides there are nearly unheard of.

Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse, a Republican member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said “Heads must roll,” in a scathing letter to Attorney General Barr.

Epstein’s death comes just a day after a Manhattan federal judge unsealed 2,000 pages of shocking civil-court depositions by the financier’s former employees, friends and victims also implicated many in his powerful, wealthy inner circle.

Some suggest that it was not a suicide, that there were plenty of people who wanted to see him dead who might have somehow used their influence to end his life.

Canada’s Anglican Church to remove prayer for conversion of Jews

The Anglican Church of Canada took a major step forward in approving the removal of a prayer for the conversion of the Jews from its Book of Common Prayer, reports the Christian Post.

Presently, the Anglican Church of Canada’s Book of Common Prayer has an entry titled “For the Conversion of the Jews,” which asks God to “open their hearts that they may see and confess the Lord Jesus to be thy Son and their true Messiah, and, believing, they may have life through his Name.  Take away all pride and prejudice in us that may hinder their understanding of the Gospel, and hasten the time when all Israel shall be saved; through the merits of the same Jesus Christ our Lord.”

The General Synod approved a replacement prayer, titled “For Reconciliation with the Jews.”

Actress tweets that being white and privileged “disgusts me”

Last  Wednesday, actress Rosanna Arquette tweeted, “I’m sorry I was born white and privileged. It disgusts me. And I feel so much shame. Because of all the violence that is happening in America and other racist countries.”

That tweet provoked a strong response from Twitter users, many of whom sardonically suggested Arquette give away her money to atone for her privilege. Others said it was a textbook case of self-hatred.

The FBI urged her to lock her Twitter account.

Netflix relaunches cartoon series with transgender character

The online streaming platform Netflix launched a 45-minute special Friday that serves as a follow-up to the popular 1990s children’s cartoon series “Rocko’s Modern Life” that features a prominent transgender storyline, reports the Christian Post.

The series, which lasted four seasons on the children’s cable network Nickelodeon and ended in 1996, was known back then to test the limits of adult humor in children’s programming.

One character declares, “I’m not Ralph anymore,” as he lets down his long hair, saying, “I’m Rachel.”  The transgender’s two friends say “cool” and “that is awesome.”
