Christians Face Discrimination During Heavy Monsoons in India
Northeastern India is facing heavy monsoon rains, displacing tens of thousands of people.
As the government hands out aid, International Christian Concern warns that believers face discrimination. Christians often receive little to no aid during natural disasters.
Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Washington, D.C. last week. During a press conference, Modi denied that Christians are persecuted in his country. However, the church in India has faced increased attacks under his leadership.
Jeremiah 9:8 says, “Their tongue is an arrow shot out; it speaks deceit; one speaks peaceably to his neighbor with his mouth, but in his heart he lies in wait.”
Russia on the Verge of a Coup
For years, Russia has utilized the Wagner Group, a private military company led by Yevgeny Prigozhin. The group has been active in Ukraine.
However on Friday, Prigozhin announced a rebellion against Russian President Vladimir Putin. Wagner forces actually began a march on Moscow on Saturday and seized an important military facility in Russia. Prigozhin is calling for the removal of Russia’s defense minister saying he has withheld supplies from the Wagner Group.
Belarus brokered a last-minute deal on Saturday between Putin and Wagner, easing tensions for the time being.
One-Year Anniversary of the Overturning of Roe v. Wade
Last Saturday marked the one-year anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Since the decision, over a dozen states passed new anti-abortion legislation.
FiveThirtyEight estimates over 24,000 fewer babies have been murdered in the womb over the last year.
Pro-abortion states saw an increase of nearly 70,000 abortions, while anti-abortion states saw a decrease of over 90,000.
Presbyterian Church in America Stands Against Transgenderism
The Presbyterian Church in America took a stand against transgenderism during its General Assembly last week.
The denomination passed an overture entitled, “Petition Government to End Sex-change Procedures for Minors.”
The petition to government leaders states, “The Bible is the supreme revelation of God’s will and teaches that God made man in his own image, male and female . . . We who love our nation . . . call upon you to renounce the sin of all medical and surgical sex change procedures in minors by the American healthcare system.”

Lessons from David’s mother
Bringing up boys isn’t for the faint of heart.
On today’s edition of Generations Radio, guest host Adam McManus interviews Rhonda Stoppe, author of Moms Raising Sons to Be Men.
Listen to the lesson she gleaned from David’s mother.
STOPPE: “Did you know that David’s mother’s name is not mentioned in the Bible? And I’m like, ‘Why? This woman should get a shout out. She raised David.’
“We find David, one day, he’s gone to take lunch to his brothers, and they’re in the battlefield. And they’re being taunted by a giant. No one’s fighting the giant. They say he was probably about 17 years old at the time. He looks at his brothers and all of these warriors and he goes, ‘This guy’s mocking the name of our God. I’ll fight him. I’ll fight him right now!’ You know, teenage boys, when they get their strength, do they go for it.
“And so Saul, the king, gets wind of it, and he puts his armor on David. It doesn’t fit. He takes it off. But he says this to Saul. ‘God gave me victory over a lion. And He gave me victory over a bear. I know He will give me victory over this giant.’
“So, timeout. He’s 17 when he said that. That means he was younger than that when he was on a hillside, battling, with his bare hands, a lion and a bear that God gave him victory. Where was his mama? His mama was not a helicopter mom.
“If my son had come home and told my husband, ‘Hey, Dad, I killed a lion with my bare hands today.’ I’d be like, ‘Awesome! He doesn’t work for you anymore. Find somebody else.’ I would have protected him from those lions and bears.
“But here’s what I learned from that story. Moms: Listen to this. If you don’t get anything out of this interview, get this. Sometimes God sends a lion and He sends a bear into our young sons’ lives because He knows the giant He’s preparing him to battle.”

Julian the Apostate Died on this Day in History
And finally, Roman Emperor Julian the Apostate died on this day in history in AD 363. He suffered wounds during a conflict with Persian forces in what is modern-day Iraq.
As his name suggests, Julian spent his life trying to bring back paganism to the Roman Empire. He took aim at many of the Christian reforms of Emperor Constantine.
However, referencing Christ in his dying words, Julian said, “Thou hast won, O Galilean.” The pagan emperor’s last words aptly sum up the previous centuries of Christ’s victory of over paganism through His church.
