Pakistani Muslim mobs destroyed homes of Christians
Up to a thousand Christians are sleeping in sugar cane fields in eastern Pakistan after Muslim mobs destroyed their homes and churches last week.
Believers in the Punjab province had to gather for worship in the open air on Sunday. The vandalism affected every denomination in the area.
Paul Robinson with Release International said, “Time and again, we see Christians’ lives destroyed by false accusations of blasphemy. Extremists are looking for opportunities to attack the Christian minority and drive them from their homes. And we have seen repeatedly over the years that they are prepared to manufacture evidence in order to do so.”
In Matthew 5:11-12, Jesus said, “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in Heaven.”
1,000 Hawaiians still missing
Here in the U.S., at least a thousand people are still missing as wildfires continue to ravage Hawaii’s second largest island of Maui.
The confirmed death toll has reached 114.
The fires are mostly contained. However, Hawaiian Electric now faces multiple lawsuits, blaming the catastrophe on the company’s negligence.
Since 2019, Hawaiian Electric knew its sparking power lines could start fires. But the company was focused on state-mandated renewable energy goals while passing over wildfire mitigation.
Trump and Tucker get 184 million views on Twitter
Last night, eight Republican presidential candidates squared off at the first Republican debate of the presidential primary cycle in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Notably absent, the elephant not in the room, was former President Donald Trump who appeared on Twitter with Tucker Carlson which has already been viewed by over 184 million people and counting.
CARLSON: “Why aren’t you at the Fox News debate tonight in Milwaukee?”
TRUMP: “Well, you know, a lot of people have been asking me that and many people said you shouldn’t do them. But you see, the polls have come out, and I’m leading by 50 and 60 points. Some of them are at one and zero and two. I’m saying, ‘Do I sit there for an hour or two hours, whatever it’s going to be, and get harassed by people that shouldn’t even be running for president? Should I be doing that? And a network that isn’t particularly friendly to me.”
GOP presidential candidates address Trump
Hosted by Brett Baier and Martha MacCallum, they spent one section of the debate asking the candidates about Trump.
Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who has been Trump’s harshest critic among the GOP candidates, praised Vice President Pence for certifying the 2020 presidential election results for Joe Biden.
CHRISTIE: “Mike Pence stood for the Constitution, and he deserves not grudging credit, he deserves our thanks, as Americans, for putting his oath of office and the Constitution of the United States before personal, political, and unfair pressure. We have to dispense with the person who said that we need to suspend the Constitution to put forward his political career. Mike Pence said, ‘No’ and he deserves credit for it.”
And Vivek Ramaswamy slammed Christie while praising Trump.
RAMASWAMY: “President Trump, I believe was the best president of the 21st century. It’s a fact.
“Chris Christie, honest to God, your claim that Donald Trump is motivated by vengeance and grievance would be a lot more credible if your entire campaign were not based on vengeance and grievance against one man. If people at home want to see a bunch of people blindly bashing Donald Trump, without an iota of vision for this country, they could just change the channel to MSNBC right now. But I’m not running for president of MSNBC. I am running for President of the United States.
“We’re skating on thin ice and we cannot set a precedent where the party in power uses police force to indict its political opponents. It is wrong. We must stop the weaponization of justice in this country.”

Trump surrenders in Georgia today
Speaking of Trump, he is expected to surrender himself today to authorities in Georgia. It’s the fourth criminal case against him. This one alleges that Trump and his allies schemed to overturn 2020 election results in the state.
Some of Trump’s co-defendants, like attorneys Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell, already surrendered to authorities yesterday.
One of the indicted individuals in the case is a police chaplain from Chicago. Pastor Stephen Lee faces accusations of trying to get an elections worker to confess to voter fraud.
Pastor Lee’s attorney said, “We were quite surprised by the reverend’s indictment since Fulton County had not even been able to make a case in an Illinois court that Rev. Lee was a material witness. With that in mind, we were quite astounded to learn of his indictment as a defendant.”
Poll: Two-thirds of parents approve of homeschooling
A new report from Rasmussen found less than a third of U.S. parents think the public schools are doing a good or excellent job. Thirty-six percent of them gave the schools a poor rating. This is about the same as it was last year.
Meanwhile, nearly two-thirds of parents approve of homeschooling. This includes 27% who strongly support it. Thirty-one percent of parents disapprove of homeschooling, and only 7% strongly disapprove.
Anniversary of Gutenberg Bible
And finally, this day in history is commemorated as the anniversary of the Gutenberg Bible. It is named after Johannes Gutenberg, a German inventor and printer.
The earliest date appearing on a copy of the Gutenberg Bible is August 24, 1456.
This Bible represented the first complete work printed in Europe with moveable type. In God’s providence, this new technology of the printing press would allow the Protestant Reformers to spread the Bible and Biblical teaching far and wide.
German Reformer Martin Luther was one of the first to leverage the power of the printing press followed by John Calvin and Heinrich Bullinger among others. Their works became bestsellers thanks to the printing press.
Isaiah 52:7 says, “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, ‘Your God reigns.’”
