Police shot and seriously injured a knife-wielding 35-year-old German national who attempted to flee after driving a car into pedestrians in the German city of Heidelberg before 4:00 p.m. local time on Saturday, leaving one person dead and two others injured, reports NBC News.

Iraqi Forces Push Into Western Mosul

US-backed Iraqi forces pushed into western Mosul on Friday night after retaking the city’s airport from the Islamic State, as aid agencies warned the most dangerous phase of the offensive was about to begin for hundreds of thousands of civilians, reports Christian Today.

President Trump’s Remarks At CPAC Conference

Last Friday, President Donald Trump appeared at the Conservative Political Action Conference in National Harbor, Maryland.

“I’ve been with CPAC for a long time. All of these years we’ve been together. And now you finally have a president, finally. Took you a long time.”

He took aim at the press.

“Sit down everybody. C’mon. You know the Dishonest Media they’ll say, ‘He didn’t get a standing ovation.’ You know why? Because everybody stood and nobody sat… I want you all to know that we are fighting the fake news. It’s fake, phony, fake.  A few days ago I called the fake news the enemy of the people. And they are. They are the enemy of the people.  Because they have no sources, they just make ’em up when there are none.”

In fact, in light of how acrimonious his relationship has become with the press, Trump tweeted this message on Saturday afternoon. “I will not be attending the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner this year.”

President Trump also told CPAC that he was keeping his promise to get rid of the illegal aliens with criminal records.

“We are getting the bad ones out. These are bad dudes. We’re getting the bad ones out… people that shouldn’t be whether it’s drugs or murder or other things.”

And Trump emphasized his “America first” doctrine.

“The core conviction of our movement is that we are a nation that put and will put its own citizens first.”

California Restricts State Funded Travel To States That Don’t Like Homosexuality

The land of the fruits and nuts has struck again.  This time California has actually  banned students and public workers from state-funded trips to states that dare to speak out against the homosexual agenda, reports The Independent.  The states in question are: Kansas, Mississippi, North Carolina and Tennessee.

Students are the main group affected by the law, as money earmarked for universities can no longer be used to transport students to events such as undergraduate conferences and sports meetings.

Democrats Excited About State Senate Wins

Democrats are jumping up and down for joy as a fellow Democrat won an open seat in a Delaware State Senate race, after Bethany Hall-Long, a Democrat was elected as Delaware’s lieutenant governor in November 2016.

Democrats are claiming that Democrat Stephanie Hansen’s victory over Republican John Marino on Saturday was some kind of push back against the Trump Agenda in this blue state.

Christian Persecution Heats Up Significantly in China

Chinese authorities in the northwestern region of Xinjiang have banned all Christian activities not linked to state-approved churches, launching a regionwide crackdown on unofficial worship in the name of “anti-terrorism” measures, reports Radio Free America.

Chen Xiangyan, a house church member from Xinjiang’s Wusu city, said she was recently held under administrative detention during a raid on her church group last month.

Chen said, “At about five o’clock in the afternoon of Friday Jan. 20, 10 of us had gathered at our home for worship. While we were in the middle of prayer, some police officers came to our house, and took us down to the police station.”

They were interrogated, had their ID cards confiscated, held for 15 days, and forced to pay a fine.

The administration of President Xi Jinping regards Christianity as a dangerous foreign import, with officials warning last year against the “infiltration of Western hostile forces” in the form of religion.

Facebook Apologizes To Mommy Blogger For ‘Error’

Facebook claimed last Thursday that it made “an error” by suspending “The Activist Mommy,” a Christian video blogger’s account after she wrote a post about the Bible’s condemnation of homosexuality, reports the Christian Post.

Elizabeth Johnston, the Ohio homeschool mother of 10, has a Facebook following of 76,000, and was told her post had been removed because “it doesn’t follow the Facebook Community Standards.”

Johnston doesn’t believe Facebook’s tale for one minute.  “Saying this was an accident is a joke! … It took a national news story to get my content returned to my page.”

Some of her followers even indicated that share buttons on her posts didn’t work or that they had to “re-like” her page.

Johnston accused Zuckerberg of “using Facebook as an ideological weapon and punishing those of us who don’t submit to the agenda with suspensions and deletions of our pages.”

Ephesians 6:14 says, “Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist.”

Family Christian Stores Closing After 85 Years

After 85 years in business, Family Christian Stores, which employs 3,000 people in 240 retail sites across 36 states, has announced it is closing, reports Religion News Service.

At the time of the bankruptcy protection filing two years ago, the company took on too much debt, was hit by the 2008 recession, and was unable to compete with the on-line sale of Christian books, movies, and music.

Proverbs 24:11 says, “Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter.”

25 Year Old Man Helps 96 Year Old Woman In Gale Force Winds

And finally, a 96-year-old woman named Joanie in the United Kingdom who only popped out for a pint of milk and some Werther’s Originals candy became overwhelmed by the 60mph wind of Storm Doris, reports The Daily Mail.

25-year-old real estate agent Dan Barnett spotted Joanie from his office window in Surrey as she was clinging to a lamppost for dear life, afraid she’d be blown into the street.  He walked her home five minutes away.

Remarkably, like the Good Samaritan story, three pedestrians had already walked by, refusing to help the senior citizen. One final thought.  Joanie must really love those Werther’s caramels to have braved those winds.

Miracle Baby Survives After Being Born Pre-Maturely

Born after just 23 weeks in the womb and weighing 13 ounces, Eirianna quite possibly could have died soon after birth, ABC News reports. But after a four-month stay at Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago, the tiny girl finally was able to go home this week.

Her mother experienced a life-threatening condition called pre-eclampsia, a pregnancy complication characterized by high blood pressure.

Research published in 2015 in the New England Journal of Medicine also found that 23% of premature infants are surviving birth as early as 22 weeks. Yet, these babies could have been legally aborted for any reason in America.

And that’s The World View in 5 Minutes.
