Food Costs Putting Children At Risk of Malnutrition Worldwide
Christian humanitarian organization World Vision warns that rising food prices are putting millions of children at risk of malnutrition, hunger, and long-term developmental problems.
Its latest report examined food affordability in 62 countries, finding that while workers in wealthier nations can purchase basic nutritious food with about an hour’s wages, workers in Sudan would need 19 days of earnings to afford the same basket of groceries.
An estimated 35.5 million children worldwide suffered acute malnutrition in 2025, including nearly 10 million severe cases.
Conditions are especially troubling in Sudan, where nearly 19.5 million people face serious food insecurity, and Afghanistan, where more than 4 million children are expected to require malnutrition treatment next year.
World Vision is calling for expanded school meal programs, stronger local food production, and emergency humanitarian assistance.
Deuteronomy 15:11 – For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.
30-year Fixed-rate Mortgage Interest Rate Drops
The benchmark 30-year fixed-rate mortgage dropped to 7.32% from 7.40% last week, mortgage buyer Freddie Mac said Thursday. One year ago, the average rate was 6.19%. Borrowing costs on 15-year fixed-rate mortgages, often sought by borrowers refinancing a home loan, also eased this week. That average rate slipped to 6.68% from 6.71% last week. A year ago, it was at 5.44%. U.S. home sales remain stalled this year in large part because of rising mortgage rates, which can add hundreds of dollars a month in costs for borrowers, limiting homebuyers’ purchasing power and prompting many to put off buying a home. The U.S. housing market has been in a slump since 2022, when mortgage rates began to climb from pandemic-era lows. Sales of previously occupied U.S. homes were essentially flat last year, stuck at a 30-year low. In its latest forecast, mortgage buyer Fannie Mae projects that the rate on a 30-year mortgage will average 7.4% in the final quarter of this year, and average 7.5% in 2027.
Actor From The Chosen Endorses Democratic Candidate James Talarico in Texas
Actor Jordan Walker Ross, who played the role of Little James in the hit TV series “The Chosen,” has endorsed Democrat radical James Talarico in the tight Texas Senate race.
Here is what Ross had to say on a video posted to Facebook last week.
ROSS: “I grew up in Texas, surrounded by faith my entire life, so that’s exactly why I’m proud to be supporting James Talarico, and launching “Faithful Texans for Talarico.” You know, a lot of politicians like to talk about Christian values, but you don’t really see that reflected in their legislation or the way that they live, but you do see that in the way James lives. He loves his neighbor. He takes care of the needy, the sick, the immigrant, and he shows that in his legislation by bringing Democrats and Republicans together, to take on corporate special interests and lower costs for his neighbors. Our political system isn’t working for Texans. It’s time for a change. So if you want to join us, please sign up to join “Faithful Texans for Talarico.”
Sadly, James Talarico has endorsed the LGBTQ agenda, the transgender movement, and has called God “non-binary!”
Ross has also had a history of wavering on traditional Christianity, stating “There are gay Christians, trans Christians, straight Christians, liberal Christians, conservative Christians. Stop gatekeeping the Christian faith. It’s not your place to determine whether or not someone is a ‘true Christian.’”
Matthew 7:16-17 reminds us, “You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.”
Major Fire in Alberta Kills 4 People
A major fire at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright in Alberta, which subsequently spread to surrounding areas, has killed at least four people and hospitalized many more, with many in critical condition.
Extremely windy conditions around the time of the fire caused it to escape the base, though the fire is now contained.
Emergency Doctor Warren Thirsk said, “It is more patients than any of us want to count right now. It’s a disaster. It’s a one in every 15 to 25-year disaster.”
Wainwright Mayor Bruce Pugh mourned the event as a “heavy day,” explaining, “We have neighbours who are either serving or former members of the Canadian Armed Forces. We’re integrated, our kids play in the same hockey teams, attend the same schools.” Pugh also acknowledged that this may be the highest casualty event this area has seen.
Bank of America Faces Largest Fine Ever Imposed by the US Treasury Department
Bank of America is facing one of the largest fines ever imposed by the U.S. Treasury Department after allegedly failing to report $5 billion in suspicious transactions, including money linked to Chinese laundering networks, border-related criminal activity, and violations of sanctions against countries such as Russia and Iran.
Meanwhile, a federal banking report identified Bank of America among nine major banks accused of improperly denying financial services to customers based on religious or political beliefs.
Among those affected was Indigenous Advance Ministries, a Christian nonprofit serving orphans and widows in Uganda, whose accounts were closed in 2023 with little explanation.
Republican Congressman Mike Haridopolos criticized the banks for allegedly discriminating against Christian and conservative organizations while failing to adequately police suspicious financial activity. He called for greater transparency and accountability in the banking industry.
