Wycliffe Bible Translators Taps New Tools
Due to recent technological advancements, Wycliffe Bible Translators is spreading the Word of God further and faster.
They recently released a new version of their translation software for smartphone users. The software enables translators to produce translations where laptop computers are not widely available.
According to the Christian Post, the smartphone version is called “Paratext Lite”, and it’s opening the door for missionaries in other countries to put their translation work from old computers into a larger translation database for further improvement.
Psalm 119:130 says: “The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.”
Attention Parents: Kids Access Porn on Snapchat and Instagram
Dr. Gail Dines, president of Culture Reframed, warns parents that children and teenagers are able to access pornographic material in seemingly harmless places like Snapchat and Instagram, reports The Boston Globe.
Dines said, “A recent study found that teens’ most popular media platform is Snapchat, followed closely by Instagram. One study reported that ‘teens visit Snapchat more than 20 times a day’ and spend at least 30 minutes on the platform, while 63 percent of 13- to-17-year-olds use Instagram daily, spending an average of 32 minutes a day scrolling through photos and videos.”
Encourage your children with these words from 1 Thessalonians 5:21-23.
“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
North Carolina Seeks to Ban Abortions After 13 Weeks
North Carolina is considering legislation to ban abortions after 13 weeks gestation.
Keith Kidwell, a Republican representative and sponsor of the bill, said, “We need to work together towards eliminating abortion, not expanding it to the point that we kill infants in the hospital beds. Lax laws have resulted in nothing short of genocide, so today we’re here to send a message.”
Two years ago, another bill of this kind was proposed and struck down. Pray for North Carolina lawmakers to remember where wisdom comes from in making their decision.
Proverbs 9:10 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”
Pro-Life Bookstore Owner Speaks Powerfully Before City Council
After the passing of New York’s horrendous abortion law, Jon Speed, owner of the Book Scout, shuttered the doors of his shop on January 23rd, as a protest of the new law.
Speed is also the producer of the sobering, heart-rending short film called, “Babies are Murdered Here,” and he is currently producing a second film called, “Babies are Still Murdered Here.” You can watch the film, in its entirety, through a YouTube link which we have in our transcript today at www.TheWorldView.com.
In a video on his Facebook page, Speed posted a speech he made on preserving the lives of unborn babies at the Batavia Council Chamber, yesterday.
SPEED: “As you consider drafting the letter to Governor Cuomo, my question to you is this, ‘What is the best way to kill a baby? Is it using an abortifacient like the RU-486, the morning after pill? Is the saline abortion, where the baby is burned alive in the mother’s womb? Is it a surgical abortion in the second trimester where the baby is cut into pieces and then re-assembled in a dish? Is that the best way? Perhaps it is to deliver the baby in the third trimester and then stick a pair of scissors into his or her neck. That is what we are talking about here. Which way is the best way to kill a baby? The answer is obvious to anyone with a conscience. There is no good way to kill a baby. Thou shalt not kill.’”
Christian Man Unjustly Imprisoned for 30 Years Shares Testimony
In a new book, The Sun Does Shine: How I Found Life and Freedom on Death Row, author Anthony Ray Hinton, shares the powerful story of how he was put on death row unjustly for 30 years and how God used his time in prison. Arrested on the false charges of robbery, first degree kidnapping and attempted first degree murder, Hinton was imprisoned in July of 1985 and released in 2015.
Hinton recounted the day of the arrest and the disturbing remarks by the officer.
HINTON: “‘Let me tell you something right now. I don’t care whether you did it or didn’t do it, but I’m going to make sure that you are found guilty of it.’ And I said, ‘For a crime I didn’t commit?’ He said, ‘You must have a hearing problem? Didn’t I just tell you that I don’t care whether you did it or didn’t do it.’ He said, ‘But don’t you forget this. I’m going to make sure that you’re found guilty of it.’
He said, ‘And by the way, there are five things that are going to convict you. Would you like to know what they are?’ And I said, ‘Yes.’
He said, ‘Number one, you’re black. Number two, a white man is going to say you shot him, whether you shot him or not.’ He said, ‘I don’t care. Believe me, I don’t care. Number three, you’re going to have a white prosecutor. Number four, you’re going to have a white judge. And number five, you’re going to have an all-white jury. Do you know what that spells?’ He said the word conviction five times. ‘Conviction. Conviction. Conviction. Conviction. Conviction.’”
In a video interview with Settle Video Productions, Hinton talked about the day he was unjustly sentenced.
HINTON: “I kept thinking. How will my mother be able to get over this? Because I know in her heart she knew she didn’t raise a son that would even think about taking another human being’s life. And I kept asking, ‘Death? Death for something I know I didn’t do.’ But more importantly God knew I didn’t do it.”
Hinton said at one moment in his imprisonment that he decided to ask the Lord to “teach him how to live in this confined box.” He said that the Lord taught him how to laugh and help other people rejoice in prison as well.
Hinton’s story reminds us of Paul’s words about his imprisonment in Philippians 1:12-13, “I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel, so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ.”
